Honest Question - Palin and a "witch hunter"???

I was at the grocery store about an hour ago and overheard a woman at the deli counter talking to a man, and he said something to the effect that Sarah Palin's church had something to do with a witch hunter? I've googled a little, and found bits and pieces of this story, but it's not making much sense to me. I'm surprised I didn't find a thread open on it.

Anyone know anything about this?

YouTube - Sarah Palin, Thomas Muthee and witchcraft Thomas Murthee was a minister visiting from Kenya who blessed her and offered protection from witches. He is famous for accusing a woman in his village of witchcraft. She lived close to the road and was accused of being responsible for causing accidents. He had her brought up on charges for which she was acquitted. She did decide to leave the village.

There are millions and millions of Americans that attend Pentecostal churches.

I do not know that much about all their different ways of worship or beliefs. I do know that a big Pentecostal church near me believes in speaking in tongues, laying on of hands, snake handlers, blessings to guard against evil.
I do not see anything wrong with how a person choses to worship as long as it is not hate-filled preaching.

Yes, she was blessed by the visiting Kenyan pastor once. Now if Muthee had been her pastor for 20 years, she called him her friend and mentor, and only left his church and began distancing herself from him after it became apparent that his association would hurt her politically . . .then we would have something to talk about.

I find these types of religious beliefs to be odd, to put it mildly. One dangerous aspect is their Christian Dominionist doctrine. This applies to the belief that we should be governed according to scripture. And, of course, we have an awful lot of different interpretations of scripture.

Sarah Palin view the Flintstones as a documentary. I see something wrong with this.

I guess Palin did too. She left the AOG church in 2002.

Adele Morgan, who has known Ms. Palin since the third grade, said the Palins moved to the nondenominational Wasilla Bible Church in 2002, in part because its ministry is less “extreme” than Pentecostal churches like the Assemblies of God…

So, it looks like she left her church for political reasons.

Explain why you think that.

Her church didn't change their tenets. She had to know how belonging to a church with these extreme views would be interpreted by voters.

I saw an interview w/the minister from the church she used to attend. The Palins moved from that church to the community church shortly after he moved there. He indicated that he really 'shook things up' and that while the previous minister ran normal-length services that his went on for sometimes 2-3 hours and were more lively than before.

I got the feeling the three hour services resulted in several leaving. He also said they diminished the focus on their children's programs, while the community church had a strong kid's program, and that was among the reasons cited for the switch.
