What do YOU think are necessary Qualifications?

There has been much discussion on which candidate is actually "qualified" to be president or vice president. there have been many charges that B.O. and S. Palin are not "qualified". Since the only stated qualification is for president - 35 and a U.S. Citizen, it has occured to me that folks are applying their own definition of "qualified" to meet their preferred candidate's resume. REGARDLESS of who you support, what criteria are YOU applying?

Great question! I look forward to the many answers.

In order me to deem a candidate "qualified" I need to believe that they have numerous positive working relationships with other world leaders, AND politicians in our own country.

So with my in-a-nutshell definition, that leaves out Obama and Palin.

I'm still mourning the loss of Hilary.

If this were Biden and McCain, I'd be much more excited, as I feel they are the most qualified two of the four. I'm not so worried about the VP stepping in. Yes, it *could* happen, but no,it more than likely won't.

And after the question of who's most qualified, I have to ask which one represents most closely my personal vision for our country.

This is one weird election year. And, unfortunately for me, it's somewhat uninspiring.

Intelligence and the ability to form a coherent thought under pressure. Someone the rest of the world can respect. Someone non-divisive. Someone who's not George Bush. It's a win/win (as long as Palin never becomes president...see first sentence)

Oh, Mo. Put on your seatbelt, girl. I think you're gonna have one wild ride of a night.

Palin is about to come on and somehow, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

The only problem is that I'm going to have to be flipping back and forth between FoxNews and The Office for the first 30 minutes.......... lol

ETA: Nevermind... no Office tonight... All Palin, All the time.

Woot!

I think her pageant days served her well, in that she could give canned, well-rehearsed answers to anticipated questions. She'd wait to hear the topic and quickly (sometimes almost frantically) scan her notes to remind herself of the key talking points she needed to make. If the topic was one she wasn't confident about, she'd just change the topic to one she had prepared for and get all folksy. I think the key to her debate style was practice, practice, practice. I still don't think she has a firm grasp of the issues...I think she was well-trained.

I agree, Maureen. She was having her own debate or maybe she didn't understand how the debate was supposed to work. She gave her answers and not answers to the question. It wasn't the real Sarah Palin on the debates last night. That was Sarah parroting what she was told on almost ever subject with the exception of the "Can I call you Joe?"

But to give her credit, she sounded like she was well prepared and has good memorization skills. Too bad her answers were for another debate.
