Why isn't anybody throwing up over this?

Biden spoke at his son's deployment.

Biden addresses his son's deployment ceremony - CNN.com

It was a very public goodbye for Joe Biden on Friday as the Delaware senator addressed the deployment ceremony of his son's National Guard unit as they prepare to leave for a tour of duty in Iraq.

I distinctly remember this thread:

http://www.mycoupons.com/boards/elec...-throw-up.html

I jsut may throw up

Families are apparently now off limits. On Sept 11, Ms Palin will speak at her sons deployment. Just a few minor problems hear
1.How about the safety of her son? Nothing like letting every whack job know about the deployment of a vice presidential candidates son. Why not just send an invitation. She may feel it is perfectly acceptable to compromise the safety of her son, but what about all of the other sons and fathers. They are doing what they are doing because of love of country. She is doing it for a photo op
2. Sept 11 is not about partisan politics. It was and is a day that partisan politics should be put aside. I had high hopes when they said Obama and McCain would treat it as such. Just another one of those little nasty lies
3. Your son is going into the military. This is a day for you and your family. She is and should be proud of him. Let him know, spend the day with him. I am so sick of the cries for everyone to leave the kids out of it. But when you are using them at every chance it is very hard. It does speak to how low this woman will go to get her way

Are you equally outraged at Biden? Doesn't he just make you sick too?

I can't speak for the OP but thinking part of the concern expressed in the earlier thread had to do with the specifics given as to where Track was going and the timeframe of his arrival at the duty station in Iraq,

From the Newsweek article:

Quote:
Gov. Palin said in her acceptance speech this week that her son's unit will deploy to Iraq on Thursday. A deployment ceremony for the brigade takes place at Fort Wainwright then, but the route to Iraq is not a direct one. It will move in stages with stops in Kuwait for equipment. The brigade will eventually be stationed in northern Iraq, Hyde said.
I don't recall Senator Biden mentioning specifically last night that his son was being deployed to Iraq today and, in fact, he isn't. He's leaving Delaware and will be attending training in the US for 6 to 8 weeks before he departs for his duty station in Iraq.

Here's her speech. She doesn't say anything about where they are going to be.

YouTube - News-Miner Video: Sarah Palin speaks at Fort Wainwright

The OP's outrage seemed to be that she was speaking at the deployment.

No, I think the concern last time around had to do with the fact that Palin is a Republican and the OP of the other thread was not.

Otherwise, we'd have heard from her this time around.

Maybe this is why she was upset.

I didn't say she said where he was going specifically but the Newsweek article is pretty specific about where he will be and what he'll be doing. I agree with the OP of the original thread. IMO she should have kept her mouth shut about the specifics of his departure rather than announcing it in a high profile setting seen by millions of people jeopordizing both Track and his fellow soldiers. Newsweek and the military who released the information about where he will be stationed and his unit, etc., should also be criticized IMO. Stupidity all the way around.

That's not the reasons she gives at all. She states that Palin speaking at her sons deployment lets "whack jobs" know about her sons deployment. She implies that Palin somehow had some say over the deployment date. And she says that Palin speaking at her sons deployment is somehow using him for a photo op.

The article you linked talks about the problem of the press talking about his deployment. It really doesn't have anything to do with what the OP was speaking about.

Here's a comment from a reader of the linked artice which IMO speaks exactly to the OP of the first thread on this subject.

As the mother of a soldier that is deploying with Gov. Palin's son, I find it reckless and irresponsible that she would disclose any information about their upcoming deployment. Military families go through enough stress when our loved ones are deployed without her adding to it. This is my sons second deployment and he is always careful not to disclose any information with regards to his deployment date or where he is going. As a proud military mom I can understand how pround she is of her son, but at the same we need to be careful when and where we talk about their deployments.

My Dad is near death this evening. This is not important to me right now. I am not avoiding anything or anyone. I simply choose to focus on my hero today. You are a mean woman.

Like I had any idea that your dad was dying!!! I'm sorry if that's true. I hope he pulls through. It doesn't change the fact that you jumped all over Palin for the same thing that Biden did. And it makes no sense that you are posting on a message board while your dad is on his death bed. For God's sake, go be with your dad and quit posting here!

Clearly, she didn't post about her nausea this time around is because it is Biden, plain and simple. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out.
