The Debate

This could be interesting if McCain does have the cahonas to tell Obama to his face that he thinks he’s palling around with terrorists.

Quote:
“And McCain said he'll probably bring up the Obama-Ayers connection in the Hofstra debate.
"I was astonished to hear him say that he was surprised I 'didn't have the guts' to do that, because the fact is, the question didn't come up in that fashion," McCain said of the last debate. "I think he's probably ensured it will come up this time."
McCain must clarify economic plan in debate, analysts say - CNN.com

I personally think this is a mistake for McCain. McCain will come out looking desperate, Obama like a statesman. People who already are voting for him will cheer, people who are voting for Obama see this as nonsense. The undecided will see this as more political rhetoric when they want to hear about real issues.

This is McCain's last chance to change people's minds. So far, the negative attacks have hurt McCain. The choice of Palin drove a lot of people away.

The subject of tonight's debate is to be on the economy. It would be hard to work Ayers into the topic.

Yes, he actually started strongly in this debate, but then reverted to his nastiness and negativity, and his numbers started to decline again. Did he not learn anything from the response to his negative attack ads? He did himself in with this debate, no matter how strongly he began...
