The votes are in...

"It's official. At least for the kids! The Scholastic Presidential Election Poll results are in: Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama won with 57 percent of the vote, to 39 percent for Republican nominee Senator John McCain."

To kids, it's a popularity contest. It's 'cool' to vote for Obama. Plus that's all they're hearing on TV from the news media is how wonderful Obama is.

How else would you expect them to vote? No surprise to me.

Very interesting, especially the swingstate result. Should be fun to see how it compares to the actual results election night.
Thanks for posting, OP.

My DD said they did the vote in her classroom. She said 20 voted for Obama and 4 for McCain. The way she talked the kids voted according to who their parents said they were voting for. The funny thing this is a Catholic school and I would've expected it to be opposite. I'm glad to hear there are so many voting for Obama in her school!!

At my ds's school they did a vote during the primary season.

The vote came out...

1) Obama
2) Huckabee
3) Clinton
4) McCain
5) Romney
6) Giuliani

My ds voted for Hillary Clinton.
