| Celebrating or Marking November Fourth
How are you going to spend the night?
I've hosted an election party for friends since 1984. For the first time, the party has gotten a bit bigger than me, and we are moving it to another friend's house. I'm a bit apprehensive, because my party was all about watching the returns and drinking copiously. The friend who will be hosting the party this year has the worst parties, for every number of reasons, one of which is that he goes for theme parties.
So, the friend who is taking over the party is asking that we dress "festively" and bring politically themed hors devours. I'm OK on the latter. I'm going to bring "Heck of a job, Brownie" brownies. But I'm not about to dress "festively."
There will be only Democrats at the party. One year I invited my Republican friends to join us at my party. That was uncomfortable. We like each other but we really want nothing to do with each other on election night.
So, I'll be with fellow Democrats. We won't be going to official candidate parties. We will be drinking. Unfortunately, an element of us will be dressed in "festive" garb.
So, what are your plans?
