Unhappy Aren't you SICK of this?

Do you ever get tired of all the hate and vitriol? I mean look, I KNOW what it feels like to not be 100% thrilled w/ your candidate but support him anyway and to really not like the opposition, but REALLY, is it necessary to just day after day after day come online and pick and argue and spew? Don't you get tired of all the arguing and nitpicking? I can't imagine that you LIKE the way this makes you feel. I don't at least. It's the reason I haven't posted in so long and why I probably won't post again after tonight. I realized that I not only didn't like the way I felt while on here being a b!tch, but I didn't/don't like others being just as b!itchy about it. I realized that several people I used to really like coming on here and talking to, I don't even like anymore. And that's sad. Sad that everyone is being so incredibly divisive, angry and full of hate.

and yet, you had to post something negative on another thread....

Sad thing is/was--I wasn't being bitchy, I wasn't being racist or bigoted. I was trying to find a common ground---but because I didn't agree and kowtow, I was painted with the racist, bigot brush.

Yeah, I'm pretty outraged over the statement about Indians being on the receiving end of a raw deal. Let's just marginalize the genocide, and oppression that Indians endured....I'm extremely disgusted that that poster posted that. I thought she was a person of more integrity and honor. It sure doesn't seem that way now.

Think about this. With all the stupid smears and attacks. Obama is going to win in a landslide.

Yep, I don't post a lot. There's very little discussion of actual issues, just a whole lotta trying to prove the other that side is bad. Both sides are guilty of it. People on here use the terms "liberal" and "conservative" as if they're insults.

Marilyn,
I also think that black people got a raw deal. It is a term used to describe when someone doesn't get what they deserved.

I won't apologize and I believe my integrity and honor are still intact.

Maybe your integrity and honor is intact, but you lost any respect I may have had for you. Whether that makes a difference to you or not, I guess really doesn't matter.

Kind of like some other posters--I use to really like to read their posts, but since this election kicked into high gear the posts have been hateful and venomous.

I am actually saddened over this election. It doesn't matter who we elect--of the two main candidates--we will make history, but we will never be united, and we're screwed.

Thanks for your post, jaded. I think, except for a small handful, most of us feel the same way. I wanted to start a thread asking why people support the candidate that they do, but I knew it would turn hostile. (I honestly want to know what issues are the most important to everyone)

sad...

MArilynk We are not going to get screwed. We have as a nation already been through all of that business of b eign totally screwed by the Bush/Cheney Administration.. However victory is only 8 days away and Obama/Biden will take the cake and then some hooray... its about time.I agree with Jaded I am also very sick over this entire election, however it will soon be over and then we can all rest and know that a great man will lead us out of this mess and bring our beautiful nation back to us one and all Americans... You can believe anything you want about yourself. Believing doesn't make it a fact and believing doesn't make you the decicion maker of what is and what is not racism. You are still can't see the forest, for the trees.

op, to stay on task, it is pathetic. I wrote much earlier this board is like dogs chained to a porch, lashing out viciously until their chain yanks them back. Many have broken that chain and have no restraint at all. The internet should have gotten us factual information in a much broader and quicker way. Unfortunately, for the most part it has only turned people ugly and uglier.

There isn't a true winner in this election.

I dont really see this board the same way. But I 1) Dont get involved in all the threads and 2) I dont take what everyone says seriously and 3) I dont respond to those who are just trying to start a fight (It is pretty obvious to me by now those who prefer fighting and those who like to discuss)

I have actually learned a great deal by researching what is said (this has reawakened my love for history)and have found this board, while sometimes tiresome, for the most part enlightening.

Wow, thanks for giving me permission to believe in anything I want about myself. I can define racism in my context and as I am one of those who people are racist about, I shall. Your comment says a great deal more about you than it does me. And I don't care. Speaking of forests for the trees, yours seems pretty dense.

I think as the election draws nearer, some people have really gotten hyped up about it, I'm sure myself included. I am passionate about my positions, and it drives me crazy when people have no real contribution other than to throw in some snarky jab or some other non-productive post.

I'm sure there are people on here who don't care for my posts, and maybe even more so now.....LOL. That's fine, I'm not here to make friends.....I came here to try and get others opinions on the issues, and to offer mine. I did not want to go to a sight that only supports one candidate, that serves no purpose for me.

I will say this on the race issue and hopefully I can just state MY OPINION and let it be what it is. I hate the fact that every time someone disagrees with Obama, it is considered racist. I think people can disagree with a person just on the issue, it's NOT always a racist thing, really.

I try not to get wrapped up in the mudslinging, but, admit, some of you make it difficult for me not to want to fling it right back at you.

So true...

For me, a lot of the talking points, rumors, innuendo and smears I read here is already discussed on other boards I frequent so it's not new and I usually try to bypass.
Still, a part of me is surprised at what some here post.
But I have also gained a lot of admiration and appreciation for a couple of people as well.

Same here. I have learned not to believe everything you read and definitely consider the source.

As to the OP, yes I am tired of all this.

At the end of the day, I'm happy I live in a country that I can express my opinions without fear or consequences. I'm grateful that I have the ability to participate in a process that allows me to choose my leaders. I'm happy for the Bill of Rights and the Equal Rights Ammendment, and happy that most women and most minorities aren't seen as second class citizens or property (at least for the time being...time will tell with Roe v. Wade and Prop 8).

So, I may not agree with what everyone has to say on here, and some days I'm frustrated with some of the women here because they don't see things my way, but I wouldn't change it.

At the very least, we've all learned a lot....mostly about google, but it's something.

Unhappy

Jaded i wanted to add. I stopped posting as much as I was, because honestly it was just making me sick. Futhermore I was also getting so tired of not one single Republican admitting to any wrong doing by the bush Administration. Like the war which to me is a huge issue for one thing we did not belong there, second over 4500 of our innocent American Soliders have been killed, numerous other wounded physically and emotionally. Also it was proven there were no mass weapons of destruction to be found. So many many numerous innocent lives lost of the Iraq nation and finally over 600 million of US money as been spend there/ Finally The real reason I have chosen to stay low is that I have been called a immigrant by some posters I have also been cited about my writing skills and correct spelling and puncuation which at this point, there should be more worry about the crisis that our country has been under the last 8 horrible years. So yes Op Jaded I agree with you, this has been the worst elections ever. If we would have had the popular vote 8 years ago, Al Gore which he so deserved and truly was cheated should have been our president. So I totally feel that we need a big change and that change will come by the way of Obama and Biden and hopefully we will as a wonderful great nation get on the road to recovery... Peace.. Catherine

I have not found this board to have Senator Obama supporters screaming about racism against to be the general rule. Do his supporters defend him when he is accuses over and over and over again by the same posters on this board of being Muslim, being a Socialist, being a terrorist and being not even eligible to run for the office he will be winning in just 7 days when this has all been proven to be untrue. I will say, though, that although I am surprised to see some supporters whom I did not think had it in them to be full of such hate and vitriol, I am not surprised when the candidate they are supporting is slinging the same lies, innuendo and mud in the first place, allowing his supporters to do the same. I will say that 8 years ago I respected John McCain....I do not any longer because of his actions during this campaign....belieing all he said he would NOT be doing in this election. Sad, especially since he will lose and have to deal with answering TO HIMSELF how far he allowed himself to fall.
