I think her needing to get some new duds makes her more like Jane Six Pack. How many of us would be "ready" for a new job or job position (stepping up in position, not a lateral move) ?? I know I would need to get some new things. And, if I need to be in front of people speaking on a regular basis and representing my company, I'm not exactly going to Target to get those new duds.

Like Traci said, shopping is limited in Alaska.

Honestly, I don't see all the hoopla from people who are not even supporting the Republican ticket. Does anyone here who is voting Republican have a problem with this? I for one, do not.

Had the GOP not had so much fun with Edward's $400 haircut (and have you seen what McCain spends on makeup?), I doubt anyone would have brought up the excessive expenditures made on her behalf for clothing.

It amazes me how the libs are so concerned with Gov. Palin's wardrobe! Why??

I don't care that they put her in nice looking clothes to run for VP. She's in a different area of the U.S. every single day and does numerous speeches daily. She had to have more clothes. Plus I would imagine her own personal clothes are more suited for colder weather since she IS from Alaska. I can see her now in her own wool suit campaigning in Florida.

She definitely needed clothes. Her wardrobe, however, is absolutely extravagant. There are a lot of places she could have bought clothes from besides Neiman Marcus.

Absolutely, Nordstroms is a very nice store that you would not have to spend 150,000 on clothes. The point is that she claims to be just plain folk and yet she is wearing clothes that isn't just plain folk. Plain folk would shop at Macy, Nordys, the Bon Marche, stores that are very nice and look quality but are in the light of what a regular person of her being jane six pack.

She speaks of the "elite" and when I think of the elite, I think of people who shop at Saks and Neimans.

Not all the money was spent at one store.

I don't see much wrong with the prices on that site. They are pretty good deals. For example, the first Sue Wong dress is at least $100 off the retail price. I would spend the price on that dress for my daughter for prom.

I shop at a couple different consignment shops and their prices are right in line with that for items like that. Of course Salvation Army is cheaper, so I go for the deals when I see them there.

I wish she had been shopping herself. It might have saved us some embarassment.

It is sooo totally different. It is not only a matter of Obama's security but everyone else on a commercial flight. Whats he supposed to do? Swim across the Pacific? McCain uses his plane to go home to one of his 7 houses when he takes a day off. Bush uses AF1 to go home to Crawford every week or so when he takes a vacation. How is this any different.

I don't know what all Senators do....but Sr. Senator Max Baucus of Montana flies commercial. I know this because we flew on the same plane last year. But....we were flying out of a very, very small regional airport (they guy that sells the tickets, loads the baggage then directs the landing planes), oh yeah did I mention the airport doubles as the police station??
My point is--security risks were at a minimum. Not to mention that there was absolutely no media to contend with. And I'm pretty sure that Max is not the target of too many assassination threats!

I, personally, would spend whatever I had to, to see my momma before she died.

Conversely, I would spend whatever it took to look stunning if I were in the spotlight of the world.

Honestly, these two "issues", IMHO should really be "non" issues.

Wonder if it was the same plane he has used during the entire campaign. Either way, he should have gone to his grandmother who he obviously loved. I have read his books before the race to the White House began.

Granted, if you were told that someone had a plan to murder you but they hadn't yet pulled it off and though they may not have the brains to do so (which is up for interpretation as I believe that white supremist are idiots and just look for reasons to blame others for their lack of ability to get ahead in the world), would you be complacent about it or would you take it seriously? I don't know about you but history shows that things like this should be taken seriously. The FBI and the SS apparently does. They watch for things such as this.

Such drama ladies, over some over priced schmatas and a trip to see a sick grandmother...which I don't think you can compare.

Again, who cares what the RNC spent on her clothes. As long as the play in the guidelines of the FEC, what is the big deal. If that's the message they need/want to send, so be it.

I don't think it is fair though to compare the trip to see the grandmother to the clothes though. If one of Palin's kids feel ill, the same measures would have been taken to get her home to Alaska. It is how security is handled, and it goes along with what all the players in this election decided on....family first.
