To everyone that posts here. . .we've had our riles, but we are all smarter for it. And that ultimately is what it is all about. I posted earlier about the lady at the polls that didn't know how to vote. No one here can claim that. At the very least we are all educated voters (sorry I do have to exclude the one cheerleader among us ).

I just finished watching Obama's acceptance speech. It was moving. . .and from the depths of my soul, I hope he is truly everything that he appears to be. I can honestly say that I hope I am wrong about Obama and that for the good of our country, I hope his supporters are right.

OBama's speech was so tear jerking for me and if you looked at the millions of people all around everyone had tears in there eyes. Also I will always admit when I did something wrong I must admit Senator John McCain did deliver a heartfelt speech as well... Peace to all Americans.. Catherine

I missed out on the test from the first post (and all the ensuing drama).

I think Obama is inspiring, intelligent, and I "feel" he is a good man.

Obama's speech was excellent and I really appreciated his comments about those of us who didn't vote for him - that he is our president too. Yes, he is and he deserves the respect as president. I wish him nothing but the best.

I was also really moved watching his speech last night. I think he really does want to unite this country and hopefully we will ALL come together for the good of this great country!!!

Hambrig - is that a No to California? I guess that's okay...Prop 8 is too close to call at this moment. I would have suggested Canada, but I think I will stick around for the next 4 years to see what happens.

I have enjoyed "meeting" everyone over the past few months. I have learned a lot about myself and about other posters. I have argued, had my feelings hurt, laughed, gotten angry, sad, glad and I wouldn't have changed it for the world. I will miss this board in the coming months. There are quite a few intelligent women here and it has been a pleasure to have been in your company through the last few months. Thanks!

What moved me the most was when they were all leaving the stage, and Obama took a step back, went to the front of the stage one last time and stood there.

I have to admit, at that moment, I saw a very humble man.

I echo these sentiments as well. I want to also add that I truly hope this election shows people that anything is possible for anyone. No longer should we allow ourselves to be held down by our sex, age, race, religion. It's no longer an excuse, and I think to continue to use it as such would be a disservice to the new president-elect as well as those who voted for him.

I am anxious to see how this administration gets working and moving.

I'm so excited for the Obama girls, they're getting a puppy DD wants to know if we can go visit them and their new puppy in the White House.

I am so pleased to see hatchets being buried, and not in the backs of others!! lol I am excited to see what God will do. I am in an interesting mood considering... lol

LOL! The cost of living is too high in California to actually live there, silly wabbit.

Is Prop 8 really that close? I haven't been following. I'm really disappointed here that Prop 1000 is passing. It's the "Death with Dignity" measure. I'm not proponent of state sanctioned suicide. I never really understood the need for it. I see it as legal euthenasia. If someone is terminally ill and wants to commit suicide they are free to do that. Yes, it would be illegal, but who is going to get punished? They're already dead. I've had a few interesting conversations about it. One point for it I've heard is that the benefactors won't be able to collect life insurance if the terminal person commits suicide, but I don't see how having this law changes that. I'm pretty sure the company isn't paying whether it was legal or not; it's still suicide. The other one I've heard out of Oregon where they have this law, is that insurance companies have denied last ditch experimental treatments for terminal patients, well, because they can just commit suicide. Ugh!

Anywhoo. . .anybody else have an opinion on this? Or I'd love to hear about any other state measures you feel are important.

Prop 8 is really close, but Cali has about 3mil uncounted votes yet....so, they aren't ready to call it.

I've heard nothing about this Prop 1000....but, now you have sparked my interest and I will check it out.
