You have command of the English language, spelling, grammar and punctuation. For all of the cheerleading, I would think she would know who she is carrying on about, but is confused again.

Listen, can we get off the spelling and grammar test? I understand the some posts are hard to read. I've posted the same. But I posted it ONCE. Posting it repeatedly stops serving any point but looking petty.

It is a reflection on her intelligence. If she was supporting my side I would be PMing her non-stop and telling her to quit making us look like idiots. You have to admit. . .she makes Obama supporters look stupid. Of course, most of the McCain supporters know enough to not project her lack of intelligence on the rest of you. That won't stop us from pointing out to her. . .just how stupid she makes herself look. I hope she is in no way representational of the majority of Obama supporters.

Wink

dannyboy thanks for the kind words, and to the others I told you before I am sick of you all critizing my grammar, none of you ladies are so perfect, unless you do live in glass houses, which at this point I seriously think you do.Again if my grammar bothers you sooooooo much , just skip the post..I will continue to post and write the way I do, if you do not like it, then too bad. Finally this post was suppossed to be about Obama winning which he did, we are on the election board, not a grammar board.Ladies give me a break and again find something more useful to do with your time or posts and leave my posts and grammar alone. Do you truly feel better with yourself, that you must come here and post such negativity about me. Its truly kinda sad. Finally ladies there is a old saying if you cannot say something nice, then please say nothing at all.Yes I know his name is Barack Obama I was so excited that he won last night and was posting fast, you ladies make my grammar out to be crime..Another fun crack at me..Again I will keep posting so either accept it or move on and do not let the door hit your.......Well you know the last one.. Peace to all whom voted for Obama our new President.....Catherine

Catherine. . .I don't know quite how to say this. BUT. . .YES, your intelligence will be judged on how you present yourself. You can't blame that on others. If you are intelligent enough to write in complete sentences and use proper grammar and spelling, then please do. Please take note that posters on here do not slam posters like Dannyboy for his/her thoughts. Dannyboy is obvioulsy educated and his/her opinions are well thought out and presented in a manner that demonstrates that. People can respect that, whether they agree or not. I used to teach 4th and 3rd grade for many years. As a teacher, I would be embarrassed by your writing samples. However, I think your writing has greatly improved since everyone jumped all over you the first time. You should be thankful for the constructive critcism you received. It has appeared to work. My only question is that if you were able to write in such a manner that you do now, why wouldn't have you done that to begin with? Were you just being lazy? It's a fair question. If Obama wasn't able to speak and express his thoughts so eloquently would you still support him? Don't you think that that reflects on his level of education and intelligence? I will tell you what I used to tell my students. . . people will judge you on your writing. It is a direct reflection on your intelligence. You wouldn't show up to a job interview in sweats and a torn up t-shirt. You have to be able to present yourself in a manner that people will respect you and what you have to say and not be distracted by the poor manner in which you present yourself. So don't be mad at the people that are trying to help you. You truly come across in your writing as somebody who lacks education. If you don't like that then fix it! I have never met anybody that has a high thought process that can't express that in their writing. If you want to be taken seriously then show that you can think and write at a level that shows some intelligence. I am not questioning your heart. . . just your smarts. I think you have it in you. Spend some time with a dictionary and a thesaurus. . .care about word choice and sentence structure, And maybe, just maybe, people will respect your thoughts and take you seriously.

Bush was not fired. After serving two terms, he's required to leave office. If you're going to post on a political board, at least learn the BASICS!

You've already proven that you don't understand the issues about which you post. You've been asked to familiarize yourself with them before you post. You've been asked dozens of times to at least make a stab at proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.

For some reason, you absolutely refuse to do it. I don't know why but couldn't you AT LEAST learn how to spell your hero's name? You've had MONTHS to learn. Do you know how stupid it makes you look? You have posted REPEATEDLY how much you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him. If you're so dumb that you still can't spell his name correctly after all this time, you're too dumb to vote.

And you know what? Obama would agree! He'd be glad that you did vote but he WOULD think that you're an embarrassment to the Democratic Party. And he'd be right.

Oh, come on, there are plenty of people on your side with spelling, grammar and, most noticeably, punctuation issues. Are you PM-ing those people non-stop? People are criticizing her spelling, but one of the McCain supporters has had Sarah Palin's name misspelled in her sig line for weeks!

If you don't like what Catherine says, or her writing style, just ignore her. No one is perfect. For example:

Quote:

Sentences, you mean?

Quote:

Obviously, you mean?

Improper capitalization of the word "and."

My point is that we all type quickly on a board and might use poor grammar or spelling. It's not necessary a sign of anything but the speed with which we put the words into print.

I think we all need to refer back to my post about clipping coupons for Windex. Looks like a little more of that needs to be going on around here.

ITA, however, when someone posts run on sentences, improperly spelled words, sentences that don't even make sense due to the wording and wrongly spelled words, it is VERY frustrating to try and read that. Therefore, I pretty much don't. I try to skim posts that are like that, and usually get so exasperated that I give up on them. No, no one is perfect, but, if you (general you) post in a manner that I don't even WANT to read your post (ALL CAPS, typing in color
poor grammar/spelling) then, I'm not reading your post, plain and simple. A few misspelled words we can all get thru, but, an entire paragraph???? And then, to sprinkle it with how much you LLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE E Obama and wish everyone peace........no thanks.

Oh, and before you even go there Catherine, yes, yes, I know...... who made me perfect?? the grammar police??? on and on and on....... yeah, yeah, I got that earlier. You have a blessed day

Trust me, I get it. And I really can't throw stones on this one - I have my snarky moments which has turned off a bunch of people - but, I just don't get why this is all still going on. I chose to stop really reading posts that annoyed me a long time ago- or at the very least - skim like you do.

You know what, I have a solution.

Let's just all agree that I'm the only perfect one around here, and we can just move on from all this nonsense?

Works for everyone? Great.

If she was supporting your side you would be busy agreeing with her.

She doesn't make anyone look like an idiot. As far as making you look like idiots. You all seem to be doing a fine job in this thread all by yourselves. Talk about petty bullies.

She does not make Obama supporters look stupid either. If her comments reflect on Obama supporters, then you have to own all the really stupid comments made by your side. Such as calling someone stupid or idiot. You, as a teacher, know, of course, the difference between stupid and ignorant, yet you chose to use the more inappropriate and hurtful word, not that either apply in this case.

If you don't like her, don't like her posts, then don't read them. If you read them and don't like what she is saying, not how she is saying it, then argue about that.

If you're feeling annoyed that your side lost and she is a convenient target, then go find a puppy to kick or find some political wrongdoing to complain about.

It might just be me, but it sounds like she is referring to The Apprentice and not literally saying that Bush has gotten fired. I mean that could be a long shot, but that is how I took it.

This is supposed to be a political board not a grammar school education board.
Why don't you children grow up and ACT like the adults that you wish people to think you are.
It's threads like this and people like ya'll that got the Family Board shut down.
This thread has DEFINITELY gotten WAY off subject and why the "Mods" have allowed it to continue is beyond me.

The election is now over and all I wish to say about it is "God help us all" The reason I say that is we now will have a president (I purposely did not capitalize the p) who will not say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. Now, I ask you, does that show any Americanism from the person who is going to be our "leader" for the next four years??????
He CAN talk the talk but we can only pray that he will walk the walk. The same walk he has pledged to do.

The way I see it, nearly the entire Republican Party was fired on Tues. Even the ones I DID vote for!

Not true.
YouTube - Obama saying pledge of Allegiance

Him leading and reciting the pledge is around the 1:38 mark.

Mods have hands off...Unless a thread goes past 50 posts or there are "personal" attacks, MC Mods stay out of it. I've seen a lot worse "off-topic" threads here.

I don't think criticism is the same as an attack. If that were true, heck, most of the posts on this board would be edited all the time.

People still believe this crap??? I bet even the first-time, supposedly "uneducated" voters went into the booth educated with the facts concerning this.

As far as the criticism. . . .I will stand behind it. Her original posts on this board were darn near impossible to read. When she was criticized for that, her writing improved. That's a move in the right direction. And the criticism of her writing doesn't have anything to do with who she supports. Yes, I have PM'd people telling them they need to "fix" something they wrote. People will not care about your opinion if your writing reflects on you in such a bad way. That's just a fact of life.

Maybe you should get your "facts" straight. When you do President Obama won't be near as scary as you seem to think.

Someone pointed you to the Snopes page in a thread on the cafe board, when you continue to spout this ignorance you only make yourself look stupid.

That's a move in the right direction. And the criticism of her writing doesn't have anything to do with who she supports. Yes, I have PM'd people telling them they need to "fix" something they wrote. People will not care about your opinion if your writing reflects on you in such a bad way. That's just a fact of life.
Glad to know you've got my back.

As for the PM thing....that is an excellent idea...if in fact they worked. I can send PMs but cannot get. Been that way forever....no love for me.

I think it's a conspiracy!

I just want to say thank you to all have offered such nice replys. I never once said I was perfect, but to keep harping on the way I write and my grammar in the scheme of things is a far lower issue , then the original thread was intented for you. I honestly cannot believe that my grammar bothers anyone so much. Seriously are there not more important issues at hand at the moment. For instance 2009 when Barack Obama becomes our new President, should we not me more focused at those issues and what if any and there will be plenty of issues, us as American's will face in the future. Like I have stated before I do have the problem when typing fast to make grammar mistakes, but to call me a idiot, or a immigrant was not needed. So please stop and lets move on to more important issues at hand. I also want to say sorry for this thread which has gotten way off topic its not nice... A sincere Peace to all... Catherine

I agree that a PM is a good way to suggest a change. But posting, where everyone can read and jump on too, that someone is stupid or an idiot for expressing joy in a manner that you don't approve of, is not good.

I don’t frequent this particular board very often, but I did this morning and I must respond to the pettiness of this post has been.

First of all, do we even know if Catherine is a native born American? Perhaps she has come from another country and has done a beautiful job of learning our language.

Second, I am usually a stickler for correct spelling and grammar. Browse the internet. News stories are always full of spelling and grammar errors. In those cases, I e-mail the site to let them know. I do that because these stories are written by professional writers who should set an example of correct usage.

But, for heaven’s sake, this is just a board with postings by people of all nationalities. Are you insinuating that just because a poster does not have command of our language that his/her thoughts are not valid?

One suggestion I’d like to make to those who for whatever reason have not had the education that most of us have, or those who speak a different native language is to write your post in Word first. Then do a spell and grammar check prior to posting.

Oh, she is. She took great offense when asked if English was her second language.

I believe too, she posted that she is a TEACHER. She can correct me if I am not remembering accurately. I am not going to search her bazillion posts to verify.

If true, I just cannot imagine how and where she got her degree.

If anyone is concerned I am employed as a Kindergarten Paraprofessional, I have held this position for 9 years made this past 9/24/01, does that answer you question. I went to night school here on out on Lond Island New York . I am most certainly a Natural Born Proud Citizen of the United States. English is my first language. I do speak some french what I can recall from Grover Cleveland High School which is in Queens New York, which is closer to the borough of Manhattan...Anything else I have nothing to hide and once again , I have asked to drop the issue of my grammar because it is so no relative to the original post... Peace to all... Catherine

I don't think that if you've just come across the issue that you characterize as petty that you are aware of the overall picture. Your questions and suggestions are not new; we've been there and done that.

While I won't join into the insults and name calling, etc, I do think that there are certain net etiquette standards that some people choose to ignore. I think that is showing blatant disrespect to the MyCoupons community and its members. It's as simple as that to me.

Kellyjef that statement is only silly and offensive and rude, because I said , right?, correct me am I am wrong. I was not the first person to say Bush is fired, however you seemed it necessary to post right under me.Anyway come January 20, 2009 he will leave his JOB as commander in chief, as the president of the United States, it was it job correct and in my personal views he was horrible at his job, so when you are no longer employed with a position and do not perform well at all, people simply say Your Fired..... To cjs216,, my grammar is causing blatant disrespect for the mycoupons.com community,,, really it bother people so much. Well I have talked about this subject so much, its so old. But I was thinking to those whom have accussed me of being a Immigrant on this boards, what ever ever happened to all the Immigrants that first came to this country from all parts of the world at the turn of the century. When they got off the boats and came through Ellis Island and many many settled in Lower Manhattan. Does anyone of this boards not have family members who were immigrants at one time or another, do you say bad things about those people. When they first came here , they hardly if any spoke very little English.. So again get off your high horse and end it already...Again Cjs216 you and others who so seem to have such a issue with my grammar, if you would voice your views on more important issues you would be doing something more valuable...Peace... Yes, you did read wrong. She left out an "n", a true typo on Palin. However, she wrote of Bristol, not Sarah. You have that wrong entirely.

I tried, without making comments, to illustrate for you how to make your posts more bearable and readable. You still don't know what paragraphs are, puncutation, spelling, etc. There are no less than five errors in your run on, non-sentence structured rant above. The error ratio minimally is one to five.

Also, thanks for telling us you are a kindergarten professional (first time I've heard of THAT title) with no mention of a degree, as I thought.

Come back and in one run-on paragraph continue to wring your hands how everyone is picking on you, and tell them to stop. Also, align yourself with the few who wring their hands with you.
