I feel your pain! Unfortunately he is our next Pres and we will have to suffer for it. However, we are on the right side so our suffering will not go in vain. God is watching us and He can't be happy with a liberal pro-choice president. I have no respect for "barry" and I think the truth of who he is will eventually come to light. Wow, that is kind of harsh. Thus far, I haven't witnessed the any thug like behaviour from Obama and/or the Democrats....HOWEVER, have seen thug like behaviour and bullying from Bush & Co.

Look--Obama wasn't my first choice for President. And I have some serious concerns with his ability and plan to lead this country; But, I think it would beneficial to give him a little slack. If nothing else give him the opportunity to sink or swim. Thus far, he hasn't done anything deserving of the label of "Thug".

I am hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst---but that's typically how I do things.

All this thread has shown is this, we who were not happy with Bush for the last 8 years lived through it sadly but we did . Our country is at a crossroads, and just like our elders did during the Great Depression or World War II, or heck even as far back as when our founding fathers were putting together this country, the success of our society doesn't lie in the hands of who sits in the Oval Office, but in the hands of the people. Education, the Environment, the Economy....it doesn’t matter...the change starts in our homes.

Today you either become part of the process and try and make things better, or you don't. I didn't vote for George Bush and I make no secret that I didn't care for him and still don't. But, in a strange way, I think some of those people that called me names had a bit of a point -- maybe if I hadn't of "checked out" and spent less time being critical and more time embracing the role that *I* play in relationship to the success of our chosen leaders, then maybe, just maybe things might have been a little different these past 8 years...even in the most tiny way.

So basically what it comes down to is -- think and say whatever you like, that is part of being a patriotic American, it is one of the things this country was based on -- but, to act or not to act in contributing to the success going forward, that is a different story altogether.

Now, that I've been somewhat tactful and tried to be reasonable, I've decided to go another route....

You are nothing more than a sad, pathetic, bitter dolt....that is if you continue to wave this "I didn't get my way, so I'm going to choose to whine about it and keep my TV off....because god forbid I show a little decorum and class...or at the very least want to stay informed."

And yah, that was name calling. Just in case you missed it...

That's just funny, in an ironic way. When George Bush was awarded the Presidency (at least you know your non-choice was elected fair and square) I was amazed and thought to myself "please, just let him get out in 4 years without doing too much damage". Funny that, in retrospect.

In the spirit of fair play, you need to dial it down a little, too. I think we will all be better off as a country if we follow the example of both McCain and Obama....if you notice, they both speak in a very somber tone. First of all did I say EVERYTHING that happens in my area is because of race problems? NO. It's just that there is a proportionately higher percentage of black crime here than the black population. Can't you folks understand simple connections? Secondly, I did make an off hand remark about names and race. It wasn't meant with as much drama as a few people took it. Jameka, Dontele, etc... are not common white names in the Midwest. If they are in your area then I can see that you might think I'm being insulting or whatever. But around here they are predominately-probably closer to 100%-representative of the black population. That does NOT make me a racist. If I see Suzy Smith is getting arrested for public intox I'm going to assume she is a white college kid but if I see Dontele Washington being arrested I will make the assumption he is probably black. Once again, that's no more racist than assuming Suzy Smith is white. Facts and statistics do back up a lot of generalizations, not all, but a quite a few. I only speak for the city in which I live. If you don't live here how can you judge me and what's going on HERE? I wont' be able to tell you about Atlanta, Chicago, etc... unless I do a lot of research because I don't live there. BUT if you give me statistics and eyewitness accounts I would have a better idea of it.
PS I will give you a tiny bit of respect for admitting you are a bitch on wheels. If you admit it, then I can handle it!

I never said he was a thug. I said Emanuel is a thug. Obama is however a product of the Chicago political machine. There is a long history of thuggery there. He chose Emanuel as his chief of staff. This is a man who sent a dead fish to one of his enemies. I thought that kind of thing was only reserved for Hollywood mafia movies.

That isn't even our biggest problem with his appointment. Read the Khalidi thread. Just what we need now. The Arab world to be even more pissed off at us!
