Arrow Racial Accusations, Strong Convictions and Living Together With Respect

I agree that, at least on this board, that if someone does not agree with some of the choices Obama has made so far, or ideas he put forward while campaigning (or uses localized terminology), that a select group automatically play the race card. That is just plain sad. I honestly hope that this small sampling of people are not representing the majority of Americans. If so we are in for a long ride of racial upset like never seen before and a basic totalitarian environment amongst our citizens.

Don't you people get when come out guns ablazing you come off as total bitches? When I am confronted with a person like that in everyday life, I write them off right on the spot. Just a tip. You can get a whole lot further with compassion, understanding, and an open mind than you can by being an uptight shrew.

This country is made up of many people with differing opinions, lifestyles and convictions. Everyone will not agree all the time, heck, not even half the time. It is just the way life is. Some people here need to learn to deal with that reality. Just because you strongly believe something, it doesn't make it right for everyone, just as the fact of that we all want change, the reality is that not all change is good.

Ok, I must have missed a lot last night.....but, it was movie night around here, and I'm not talking about on the computer. LOL.

I've been reading the paper this morning and it had me thinking about one of the threads on here, which I'm sure is locked now. Anyway, a lot of posters were making a point of saying they did NOT vote for Obama because he is black. They then went on and stated why they DID vote for him..

My question is this. For those said they did not vote for him because of his skin color, why did you feel the need to say that??

One needs to remember as well, that this is the written word--we do not have the benefit of tone, inflection and body language. Now, of course, sometimes you do not need those things to determine in what vein a poster is saying something, but sometimes you do.
And sometimes, how a person reads a post is determined by that person's frame of mind at the time. If I'm already in a pissy mood, then I'm probably going to take offense to things that I normally wouldn't KWIM.
Now, that's not to say that sometimes, you just have to tell another poster to go jump of a cliff or eff off! Sometimes it's warranted.....

Sounds like what you really mean is respect for the people you agree with.

It was often stated that people were voting for Obama simply because he was black. This is simply not true. I can guarantee that Alan Keyes, for instance, would never have gotten a single vote for that reason.

Thanks for being a shining example!

That is not at all what I said, and if you missed the point I am sorry.

Please share with me, what is "localized terminology?"

And, what is the reality some people here need to learn to deal with?

Deal with the reality that people have different opinions that are just as valid as the next person, even if you don't agree with them. It is fine, for conversation sake to voice your differing opinion, but do so with respect and diplomacy.

And by localized terminology I mean people need to understand that people in different places speak differently, use different words, even if they are not 'acceptable" where you are from. You can point that fact out without degrading and generalizing someone. If so, maybe you will get the respect and understanding you feel you deserve.

Intolerant was a quote from you! ANd I believe sadistic was in your post too. I threw in the judgmental term since you stated someone was a dolt. Enjoy! P.S. I must really get to you to use a quote from me at the bottom of your posts! lol

Frankly I was amused by the whole thing

But, yes Kathy, you get to me. That's it. We'll go with that, if that's what you need to hear.....

Sorry Maddie, I shouldn't have hijacked your thread and made it about anything other than the topic.

Like I said before, I think the race card is being played a little too much by both sides at all angles.

Given that the topic appears to be that it's ok for one side to rant and rave and make personal attacks, but not the other, I think hijacking is completely in order.

Where in the topic did I rant and rave? I just posted my opinion as I see it mainly from observing.

I disagree, it is coming from the left, if you don't agree with barry, you are automatically a racist.

But go ahead call me a racist, I know I'm not one & don't feel the need to prove otherwise...I see the man as a thug who used questionable people aka thugs..to climb the ladder. He has no experience & the blind love fest for the man makes my skin crawl, you guys don't even know what you've voted in! The media has even admitted they know nothing about him, unfortunately, they only started vocalizing that a couple of days prior to the election..too late to undo what they had already done.

Alli...but it looks the "bitch card" is completely acceptable coming from both side of the table, so feel free to throw that one around willy nilly. Maybe if we toss it around a few times it might get people off this race thing...

Oh oh! I want that one! Maybe make a bumper sticker that says "I didn't vote for Obama, so I am obviously a racist bitch!"

What grade are you in kolu? Are you even old enough to vote? Is this some sort of school project where you try to respond with the worst off the wall remarks you can think of? Or is it that you are just very naive about what goes on in the real world?

Your posts never ceases to amaze me.
