Obama has more threats than any other president

This article if you can all it that, really amazes me. There is so much hatred toward President Elect Barrack Obama that it is scary. The man, from North Las Veags is the one who has me scared the most " I want the SOB laid out in a box, to see how the 'messiahs' come to rest, God has abandoned us, this country is doomed". How about giving the man chance first. All the hatred that is out there because Barrack Obama has been elected, is showing everyone just what is wrong with this country.

this is just lovely...

And in a Maine convenience store, an Associated Press reporter saw a sign inviting customers to join a betting pool on when Obama might fall victim to an assassin. The sign solicited $1 entries into "The Osama Obama Shotgun Pool," saying the money would go to the person picking the date closest to when Obama was attacked. "Let's hope we have a winner," said the sign, since taken down.

It's so sad -- it's one thing to be trying to work against him, but another thing altogether to show that kind of hatred. That's so sick, so twisted and warped.

It is sad....but does it come as a surprise to you??
Not only are there racists amongst us, our society (in general) feeds on morbid curiousity--I mean aren't there websites dedicated to predicating when notorius celebrities will die/commit suicide?

Not at all. I hope I didn't give you the impression that it did.

I've read too much over the past year or so to not know what's out there.

The Secret Service also has cautioned the public not to assume that any threats against Obama are due to racism.

The service investigates threats in a wide range. There are "stated threats" and equally dangerous or lesser incidents considered of "unusual interest" — such as people motivated by obsessions or infatuations or lower-level gestures such as effigies of a candidate or an elected president. The service has said it does not have the luxury of discounting anything until agents have investigated the potential danger.

I'm not surprised. There are plenty of stupid people out there. . . .both racists and Obama girls. If you really think about it, the obsessed are usually the bigger danger. They tend to be less stable.

You know, if a trusted candidate goes around telling people his opponent is a socialist, hangs around with terrorists, and can't be trusted, while knowing all the internet nutjobs are getting worked up about every conspiracy POS there could possibly be .................... well, let's just say if a whacko goes after him with any thought that they are "saving our country" the blood will be on McCain and Palin's hands and quite frankly, any and every internet nutjob that gets the whackos worked up.

If he was assinated the blood would solely rest on the hands of the perpatrators (sp) NOT Senator McCain or Governor Palin. That's ludacris to think otherwise.

Not excusing the whack jobs in the article, but, wanted to share something I was told by a friend. One of her friends,a white woman, had gone into a store, had placed her items on the checkout belt, when a black woman cut right in front of her, placed her things down, and said "We won, I get to go next". Thankfully the cashier, who was also black, told her "no ma'am, you need to go to the back of the line, this lady was next". The end result was that security had to be called, and the black woman was escorted out of the store.

So, you got the good, and the bad in that story

If it's true, which seems highly unlikely. Sounds like one of those friend of a friend stories . . .

No, kathy, you're wrong. Since you are/were clearly a McCain supporter, by default, you are wrong

Why is it so hard for people to believe that racism and stupidity truly knows no skin color?

Allinaugust, I believe what you said because my son (who's in law enforcement) told me something similiar that happened to one of his fellow law enforcement officers. This happened about a week after the election.

The officer (who is white) had stopped a drunk driver one evening. As he was talking to the drunk driver and preparing to do the tests, etc., about six black guys came out of a house. They started yelling at the officer "Obama is your leader now" "Get off my property" "You have to listen to US now". They kept hollering and yelling. He ended up having to radio for backup.

This happened in Northern Virginia. So yes, it's happening.

I have to agree with this wholeheartedly. Besides, if you really look at assasinations or attempted ones of famous people, it seems like 9 times out of 10 it's some mentally unstable, obsessed person acting alone. Grand plots involving more than one person seem to be easier to foil. It's that lone whackjob that is living in fantasy land that seems to be the more dangerous one.

Actually, I wasn't doubting your veracity, but until I hear names, dates, stores, I'm inclined to doubt that kind of wild story. It just reeks of urban legend.

But you're free to judge me as ignorant.

Two similar incidents happened to my 70 year old aunt and 75 year old uncle the day after the election.

There are ugly pigs on both sides.

Both my aunt and uncle relayed their stories to me at a family dinner on Sunday. As neither one has lied to me before, that I am aware of, I'm inclined to believe their stories. As I said in my other post, there are pigs in all shapes, sizes, races, and sex.

I totally agree. When leaders spew fear to their followers toward another person then they too must accept responsibility for the consequences. Especially since they planned to set the seed of fear and knew damn well what affect their words were having on their followers.

To be sure. On Wednesday morning the day after the elections I was on my way to work and passed a row of political signs in a nearby field. I’ve seen the long row of various signs for months but on this morning I notice something different all that remained of the Obama/Biden sign was a charred wooden frame standing about 20 feet high the rest of the signs were untouched. It was a disturbing sight to say the least and a hideous reminder of hate and intolerance. I later found out the fire was set about an hour after Obama won the election.

My neighbors McCain sign was burned prior to the elections..so was that also considered a hideous reminder of hate and intolerance? Or doesn't it count because he isn't black?
