Smile Antique FRIENDSHIP QUILT Fly Foot GOOD LUCK Pattern OLD

This is truly a beautiful antique friendship quilt. I was told this quilt is circa 1800's but I am not 100% sure.
The pattern is called Fly Foot pattern was a symbol for GOOD LUCK ~~ (Please read interesting information about this pattern below)...Thanks.
This quilt is 100% authentic and all original.
The quilt measures 86 inches x 67 inches.
It looks to be completely hand quilted & hand sewn but I am not 100% sure.
The edges are turned and hand sewn. The batting is thin. Hand pieced. Fabrics are cotton.

The back of this quilt is green and as you can see it has faded some over the years. There are a few mended holes on back which I posted pictures of also.

This quilt does have some stains...as it is very old and not in perfect condition but a wonderful and authentic antique quilt. Some of the stains may come out but I will leave that for the new owner to decide to clean or not.

This quilt is quite heavy for it's size and has a nice weight to it.

***************Frontier women converted the ancient symbol of good luck and good fortune into a quilt pattern made simply from two triangles.
Sometimes it is called Fly Foot. An ancient symbol believed to represent the sun, was a popular device brought over from Germany.

The Whirling Fly Foot appeared on Pennsylvania-German barns. The locals referred to the design as Hexfiess, or witches' feet, painted on barns to ward off evil spirits.

The FlyFoot quilt block, also known as: Battle Ax of Thor, Catch Me If You Can, Chinese 10,000 Perfections, Devil's Dark Horse, Devil's Puzzle, favorite of the Peruvians, Heart's Seal, Indian Emblem, Mound Builders, Pure Symbol of Right Doctrine, Spider, Virginia Reel, Wind Power of the Osages, Winding Blades, Whirligig, and Zig Zag.

The American Indians used this sign; to them it stood for the 4 corners of the world, and the balance of the universe.

Sold as is. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Always happy to help. Thanks!
