We're traveling in June and just wanted to see if I could find refillable mugs....

Go to your local garage sales, I only go to Street sales. When we stayed at Port Orleans we had 3 from garage sales and they worked. I just made sure that other people were using old ones first. Some people were even using other resorts mugs.

Can you fill me in on these? We're going to DW next april ... do they change them each year so if I found some this summer at rummage sales would they not work? I'm assuming they give you some sort of discount on refills if you already have the mugs.

Disney's 'official' policy is that the mugs are good for free refills at the resort they were purchaed (and sister-resots) for the length of ONE stay. You are not supposed to save them and bring them back time after time. The free refills are ONLY at the resorts, not the parks. As far as I know, there are no free or discounted refills at the Disney theme parks. There may be a refill option at the water parks, however. There was at one time, but I haven't been to either of the water parks in quite a while.

That being said, I have never personally seen this policy enforced. I have seen old style mugs and mugs from othe resorts being used quite a bit. We usually stay at the same resort eact time we go and bring our mugs back for each trip. I do this because I don't want a ton of mugs to keep around my house, not because I don't want to pay the mug fee again.

I did hear that they had started to change out the mugs at some of the Value resorts and it was rumored that as the other resorts depleted their individual style mug, that they would eventually all have the same universal mug.... Just not sure how or when that will happen....

I just went to WDW in April and from what I saw, all resorts had a new style, they were "a year of a million dreams" blue/white with the main mickey, donald, goofy characters on them. They are NOT good for the parks, only for refills at the resort your staying at. They are not supposed to be reused , more of a length of stay type deal. I haven't seen it enforced but I guess if someone wanted to they could say something, not sure what, but...??

Interesting -- maybe they are going to do a new mug each year that will be the same for all the resorts. That would probably make it easier to 'police' the 'one length of stay use' on the mugs.

Like I said before, I don't have a probably paying each stay to use the mug, I just hate to end up with a ton of mugs that collect dust in my house.
