HELP!!! What would you price these at??

We are having a garage sale this weekend, and I have a TON of clothes, all of which are new with tags or like new....most are high end clothing Womens & childrens....I have an idea of what things go for on Ebay...but like I have a ton of Gymboree clothing 0-3 3-6 and 6-12 month girls clothing that is hardy even worn....I mean I want the stuff to sell as I really don't want to drag it back home or to goodwill....so I want to price it well, but I would like to make someof my $$ back as that stuff is pricey.... so I thought I'd ask the gurus on here...what would you price a Jones NY suit jacket for? A Gymboree outfit? A Coach bag? I have not had a garage sale in years so I just do not remember.....any advice? Guidelines? Thanks a bunch!

a perspective form a yard saler:
first : a yard saler doesn;t care how much you pay for your thing...just how cheap he/she can buy it....
for me at a yard sale, even brand new infant clothes,i do not want to pay more than $2 for an outfit...at that age nothing get really used(stain or whatever,i can find cheap stuff at goodwill or thrift store...)

if a person is willing to go to a yard sale, more likely she will go to a thrift store too.
I know I am cheap ,but one thing that bugs me the most at a yard sale ,is when the yard sale person is telling how much she paid for something(frankly not my problem!!!) and doesn;t want to lose money.and since the price of gas is thru the roof, going from yard sale to yard sale is abit pricey to start with.
if you really want to make money, drop your brand new clothes at a consignement store...

ok so here is my price: infant clothes: with tag $4 max,and i am generous, without tag $2..
women clothes no clue......

I try to price stuff at the rate I would pay for it at someone else's garage sale....

There's a lot of gymbo at garage sales in my area, one lady had more items than the store at the mall every summer...she prices higher (brand new w/ tags) - usually $10-$30 per outfit (2-5pc outfits new w/ tags)...it has to be something I REALLY want and brand new for me to pay these prices.

Personally, I take all my gymbo that we outgrow to a local kids consignment shop - I get the same or a little more than I would expect at a garage sale (40% of what she will sell it for in cash or 60% in a merchandise credit for the store - my choice) and it's easier than ebay since you skip the sellers fees, shipping hassle, and chance of missing a small flaw and having to do returns, etc.

For garage sale prices, I'd say it really depends on condition. Fancy one pc baby outfit or dress w/ matching accessory of some kind I'd pay $5-$10 depending on the outfit.

PS...adding here that I live near Seattle and while visiting some family out away from the cities in Minnesota recently, I noticed a HUGE differences in garage/thrift pricing. It's much lower priced away from the city.

I would say

general rule of thumb.. if it is new or like new 25% of cost. If it is used 10%.

I am cheap too.. NWT outfit I probably wouldn't pay more than $3-$5 (unless it was the cutest thing ever and we really needed it.) I seldom pay more than $1 a piece for kids clothes at a sale no matter the brand.

I think you would do better on consignment or ebay.

I just had a sale and priced all kids clothes .50 to $1. They weren't new though.. most came from garage sales in the first place. But they were all in very good condition.

Thanks! You guys are awesome! I know...I am frugal too....I like to find nice outfits at sales for $3 $4...so if I really want to just get rid of stuff, I will price like that....I started pricing yesterday and that is whwat I was pricing at...I could sell it on Ebay or consignment but then I woud have to take more steps to finalize things, take it to PO or shop etc. Again, thanks for your insight

From my experience (from my church's childrens consignment sales), the smaller sizes (under 24 months) don't sell for very much because there is just so many of them and most are in excellent condition. Infants grow so fast and don't really do anything to wear out their clothing.

At a garage sale, I would say maybe $3-$4 for an outfit with tags, no matter what you paid. For clothing that has been worn, $.50 or $1 per piece, maybe $2-$3 for an outfit if it is like new or has accessories (hats, socks, hair bow, etc.).
