Here’s how it works: (not free)

A community must make the program accessible to all preschool children in their area. The community pays for the books and mailing, promotes the program, registers the children, and enters the information into the database.

From there The Dollywood Foundation takes over and manages the system to deliver the books to the home. You can find out more of the operational details on other pages in this website – so what are waiting for! Hundreds of communities are providing books to hundreds of thousands of children.

Not sure why you posted that. That's how it works if you want to get the program up and running in your community (which is not a freebie). However, if the program is already running in your community (as it claims it is in hundreds of communities), then it would be a freebie for those children. That's why I said to make sure to "find your affiliate" to see if you live in a participating area. The program is not in my area, but I'm hoping it will be in someone elses. And thus, it will be a freebie for them.

Thanks for the link. I knew about the program (the state of TN partnered with Dolly Parton to start the program out), but had no idea they branched out of the state. I sent the link to my relatives with small children in NC- their community has an affiliated group.

This is a really wonderful program (my niece and nephew get books each month- how they love getting their own mail!), and they are very good about making sure siblings don't get the same books, leaving a household with duplicate copies of multiple books.

No results found in my area..

I signed my grandbaby up and received an email stating that they received it and it was now under review. Is this normal? How long should it take for them to tell me if he is getting the books or not, any one know?
