best store bought spaghetti sauce

What is your favorite store bought spaghetti sauce?

I used to use tomato sauce and American Beauty spaghetti sauce seasoning mix. They do not make that anymore.
Williams spaghetti seasoning is close. But I can not get it here. I just ran out of what my sister sent me.

I have tried other seasoning mixes and have not found one I like. So I thought I would get your opinions on your favorite sauce.

I really like the canned hunts sauce its very basic and comes in many flavors which are all good and its cheap!
I like the spicy and the four cheese the best

I have to admit, I like jarred Prego & jarred Ragu. I usually stock up during sales. Canned pasta sauce gives me heart burn.

Hunt's and Ragu but by the time I am done doctoring it I only need the sauce to get my seasonings right. These seasoning packets have my interest.

I use the Ragu Old World style with mushrooms and then add a pound of hamburger and a can of mushrooms to it. It's our whole family's favorite.

I've tried the Prego, but it's sweeter - too sweet for my taste.

I buy Francesco Rinaldi it has no HFCS and it's inexpensive and tastes okay. My Mother and Nonna would say "disgraziata" what a disgrace- using jarred sauce! Of course my homemade or "doctored up" sauce is way better!

I am not much of a cooker, but spaghetti meat sauce is soooo easy to make and no comparison to jarred sauce. I make a huge batch of it once a month during the winter, and maybe once a summer, and freeze it in one meal size containers. Once you have your recipe down, it's just so simple!

My mother always used the spaghetti sauce seasoning packets when I was growing up, but I can't remember which brand (maybe McCormick, I'll have to ask her). My friends always loved my mother's spaghetti and would ask to eat dinner with us when she made it. I use to make it too before I got married. But, when DH and I got married, he was such a cry-baby because his mother always used Ragu. Rather than listen to his whining every time I made spaghetti, I just gave in and started buying Ragu.

Now, I buy Ragu (jar) if I catch it on sale cheap.... if not, I buy Hunt's in the can. Either way, I doctor them up as well. Not too long ago, Kroger had their brand of spaghetti sauce (jar) on sale and I tried it. To my surprise, it was every bit as good as Ragu, if not better. I don't stick with just one flavor though, I buy different flavors depending on what I'm using it for. (i.e. - spaghetti, rigatoni & meatballs, cheese ravioli, ziti & italian brats, etc.)

I know home-made is best, but I recently tried Giant Eagle's organic "Nature's Basket" garlic spaghetti sauce and thought it was delicious compared with a lot of other store-bought sauces. I just bought some of the other flavors to try.

I use DelMonte green pepper and mushroom in a can. It is under a dollar at Wal-mart. I add ground beef or turkey, browned, wine, and sliced turkey sausage (or Italian or Polish). If I have fresh or canned mushrooms, I add them.

I love Prego -- but for the price, I usually buy the Kroger brand. I think it's very good & better than Ragu. Plus when it's on sale for $1.00 -- you can't beat the price!!!

To be honest. . .I really like the canned Hunts the best. We like the Herb one. I've tried the Francesco Rinaldi too and really liked it, but haven't seen it in awhile. The Newman's are all good too. . .kinda pricey compared to the Hunt's though.

We buy Ragu meat flavored. I used to buy whatever was cheap until I married DH and he insisted on Ragu...he throws in some Italian seasoning, pinch of sugar, a little cooking sherry. and tomato paste. Apparently that's how mommy always made it. <eyeroll> He used to add water, too, like his mother ,but we decided we like the sauce a little thicker.

hunts in a can if money is tight. If I have a little more to spend, I like the Organic Muir Glen or Classico. If I have room in the freezer, I buy the BIG can of spaghetti sauce at Costco (forgot what the brand is) for like $5, doctor it up with meat and spices and then freeze it in portion sized baggies
