| Where to buy a pizza peel?
We've just started making our own pizzas and I'm running out of cardboard to use for the peel. Is this something I can buy at a store like linens 'n thins or do I need to go to a specialty kitchen shop? Maureen |

I bought mine in a local store but it's the same one they sell on Amazon. I have two and love them for letting my breads rise. It makes it easier to transfer the loaves to preheated stones in the oven. I'm planning on trying homemade pizza dough soon

Ok, so am I the only one who makes her own pizza and doesn't use the stones or the pizza peel? I roll my dough out on a floured counter top, and transfer it to a good quality pizza pan, brown it there and pull it back out of the oven to add the toppings. If trying to save $$$$ why go to the extra expnese of the other tools? Sorry just had to ask! Laurie

I use my pizza peel when I am letting the dough rise (but as I said, I haven't yet made pizza). You get a much better crust on breads (and I would imagine pizza) if you preheat your baking stone first (at least in my experience). This way, I can slide the dough onto the stone. When I have tried just hand transferring the bread dough, it *falls* and never quite rises back up the same as if I use a peel. I guess it's a matter of preference. It's worth the $15 I spent on the peel to get a better quality product (at least it is to me)
