Today is my oldest son's birthday, and I stopped by the dollar tree to surprise him with a few balloons, the store seemed pretty crowded, there was along line to check out, with only one cash register opened, There was a man sitting behind one of the regeisters, texting on his phone, I asked him if he could blow up a few balloons for me, and he said i'm not on the clock, so then I asked is there anyone that could help me with the balloons, and he said nope, there isnt anyone, so I said so I cant purchase any balloons today? he said oh we can sell you the balloons, just we cant blow them up..( what am I going to do with balloons not blown up?) I was pretty annoyed, I think they should have more than one person working in a large store like that, I dont think I will be shopping there anytime soon.. thanks for letting me rant!

You know the last time I ask about balloons at DT, the same thing happened!! They had no way to blow them up. It's frustrating. I know it's happened more than once at the store I go to. I've heard several other people ask and get similar responses. On the other hand, many times I see dozens of balloons going out the door. So they sell tons of them and yet they turn tons of people down. The store I go to is very disorganized, never enough people checking out but 3 or 4 people will be stocking shelves while there's 10 or more people in line waiting.....I think it's lack of good management.

Ours is just as disorganized.

Guess they pay very little to staff and get what they pay for.

I went the other day & was walking around. While shopping, I noticed that someone had stolen all of the pg tests (and left the ripped open boxes). I told the cashier, who shrugged and said that people there steal everything. Then told me how someone had walked out of there with a huge display rack of candy.

Same with our DT! 4 people shelving, one poor girl trying to check out a long line of people. I hate how they have to CALL the stockers to the front, like they do not notice the long line snaked around the bldg !

LOL....me too! The stockers have to say excuse me to those in line to go around them and yet there's no attempt to go help check out until they're called to the front!!

Maybe they aren't given the flexibility to do the right thing. Maybe they can't switch tasks until a head cashier tells them to. I can't imagine that the people who work at those stores get any more than minimum wage and they're probably treated like garbage by management and many customers, so they figure, "Why should I put myself out? I'll just do what I'm told, collect my meager paycheck, and go home."
