Anyone order from Schwan's?

It seems like these trucks are in our neighborhood all the time. I looked on their website and the prices seem high to me. Do any of ya'll order from them? How is the food? Is it worth paying the higher prices? What is your favorite thing?

Thanks so much!

Kim

We used to. The prices are high, you have to buy fairly large quantities, but it is good. I got tired of them showing up every 2 weeks. It doesn't seem that often until you're on their route and then it seems like 2 weeks is all the time!

I looked at the catalogue. It was all very expensive. And we make food from scratch. I could not see all the ingredients so I don't know if they are loaded with crap like other processed foods.
If you can't get to a store and you like packaged foods then it's good for you but if you like to cook from scratch I would skip it.

Some of it is processed - sandwiches, pizzas, chicken nuggets, etc. But they have frozen fruits, veggies, meats, etc., too that's not processed. They also have a lot of ice cream & popsicle type things, including really good frozen strawberry fruit bars! But I think you have to buy 24.

I order from them. About once a month...used to be every 2 weeks but sometimes when he stops, I don't need anything. Mainly I get the veggie mixes, french baguette bread, fries and sometimes the brats. Occasionally I'll get ice cream treats but not all the time. A lot of the stuff is pricier than you'd pay in a store, so I avoid those.

Okay - thanks for all the thoughts. I think I will skip it. I cook mostly from scratch, too. We don't really eat frozen veggies and I make my own french bread. I have lots of frozen fruits from when they are on sale. The thing that I was primarily looking at was the frozen salmon. We eat a lot of salmon, but I've never bought the frozen at the store - only fresh from higher quality stores. Schwan's salmon had really great reviews, but I am not sure if it would be what I expect and it is $9.99 per pound.

I think I will skip it for now....

We used to buy from them all the time. We would get some steaks, certain breakfast items, and of course deserts. We had a fantastic schwan's man. We haven't gotten on anyone's route since the move.....but I keep meaning too. It really depends on what items you get.

I checked their site, and I’m considering placing an order. Has anyone tried the items listed below?
If so, please give me your opinion of them.

Mozzerella sticks - my Dad has bought them and they were good. They buy quite a few of their items. I find them good but the portions are kind of small.
Last week (when thier $5 offer ran) I ordered some Sweet & Sour chicken. Its due here on Tuesday we'll see how good it is.

I ordered last week with the $5 coupon

and got the lemon frozen yogurt. This was the 1st time I have ordered. It was very good but I think the prices are much higher than my grocery stores. Don't know if I would order again because we don't buy much convenience foods.

I have not tried the green bean fries, but want to. I have had the pretzels, didn't thrill me at all. I agree on the mozz cheese sticks, can't go wrong with those. The cheese and herb biscuits are good. The spinach and artichoke mini bread bowls were not the best, won't buy them again.

JMHO!

TY, janenga. Looks like it will be just cheese sticks and biscuits for us. I’ll order them this week.
