Hump Day Dinner?

What's cooking at your house?

We ended up stopping and picking up chicken on the way home last night - $30 later we ended up with semi-yucky chicken, disgusting mac and cheese, and some pretty good okra and rolls. Man, should have eaten at home, but DS was covered in mud, starving and cold, and I thought I would make it easier on all of us. I've really got to use the crockpot on Mondays and Tuesdays. Nothing else really works - he's just too hungry when we get home for me to have to prepare anything.

Anyway, he's having a friend over after school today and I'm not sure what he eats, so tonight will be a choice of sloppy joes or hot dogs and french fries. As dumb as this sounds, I want Lachoy chicken chow mein. I can't remember who posted about that recently, but I had to go out and buy some. So, if DH is okay with that, I will probably heat it up tonight, too. Free for all.... If I don't make it tonight, DH and I will have it tomorrow night.

It's my oldest's 10th birthday today and she has requested Little Caesar's pizza and cheesy breadsticks. Her and I will make a small cake or something for dessert, her party is Saturday and I'll have the big cake then. But we'll need something to put candles on tonight.

Janenga Happy Birthday to your DD

Its chilly here today, and my reynards is acting up cause my right hand is ice cold and a little blue so since I was at Boston Market for lunch, I picked up two potpies that I will heat up in the oven and since the oven will be on, I will throw in a pan of brownies or pillsbury cookies for dessert.

LOL! It was me that posted it - we had that a couple weeks ago! Did you remember the extra bamboo shoots & water chestnuts!

Today is our 20th anniversary! We went out for lunch and then looked at new wedding sets. Didn't buy anything though. I can't believe how fast 20 years has gone by! It's scary to think the next 20 will be by even faster! (so I hear anyway)

Anyway, back to reality. We're having sloppy joes, tator tots/french fries and steamed brocolli. Youngest made a pan of brownies after school so those, too!

ETA: almost forgot - Happy Bday to your dd, Janenga!

Lisa

That's funny, Lisa. How was it??? I did get extra water chestnuts and bamboo shoots and I also bought some bean sprouts.... I'm nervous about eating it - scared it won't be anything like what I remember!!!! Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! Wow!!!!! 20 years???? That is impressive!

Happy birthday to your dd, Janenga!!!!

It was good, but there's hardly any chicken in it. Not that there was a lot back then, but I didn't add any extra. I enjoyed it and actually looked forward to the leftovers for lunch the next day. It was like I remember except they've added those little mini corn cobs. They weren't in it when I was a kid. I'll be interested to hear if it's like you remember or if you're disappointed!

Contratulations Lisa! By wedding sets, do you mean new rings? I had to wait until my 25th anniversary before DH replaced mine with a bigger diamond (even though I had quit wearing it about 3 years before that because the diamond that was in the engagement ring fell out and of course was never found). I wanted to keep the same rings (sentimental ol' me) so he put in a larger main diamond and replaced the smaller chips around it and the chips in the wedding band. I don't think I have ever heard the second 20 years go faster, but I think you're right. We'll hit our 29th next month, YIKES! Almost 30 years? Where did they all go???

Anyway, we had tuna noodle casserole last night. Pretty boring, I know, but something we both like a lot and I haven't made it in a LONG time.

Yes, I was talking about rings. He tried to replace my stones about 10 years ago and, being sentimental also, wouldn't let him touch it. Then about 3 years ago, he took it in for a check/cleaning and was going to suprise me by having an anniversary band added (my rings are saudered sp? together). However the jeweler told him they wouldn't do it because my mounting for the main stone is going to fall off soon and they will not be able to fix it due to how it's constructed or something. They told me to take it off and stop wearing it. Well, I never stopped wearing it, but am now getting nervous every time I catch it on something that it's going to yank it off. DH wants to remove the stones and melt the gold down but there's NO WAY I will let him do that! So, we were looking. I saw 2 that I really liked, but I want to look around to see if one jumps out at me. I hate sales pitches, though. They try to pressure you into buying and that makes me crazy.
