| What do I use black walnuts in?
Dh was nice and bought me 10 lbs of shelled pecans,the people he brought them from gave him a small bag of shelled black walnuts. What are you suggestions for what to use them in? TIA

Black Walnuts have a big flavor. Recipezaar (black walnuts - Recipes - p1 - Recipezaar) has quite a few recipes. When I was little, I use to like black walnut ice cream, black walnut fudge, and black walnut cake.

This is a fantastic site. I’ve prepared several of the recipes (sometimes substituting with other nuts), and was very pleased with each one. HTH California Walnuts

I am not really big on deserts (sp) but my mother makes what she call apple sauce cake with black walnuts and I LOVE it. I have no clue what all else she puts in it, but that is the only way she can get me to pick out the black walnuts, is promise to make me the cake.
