what's your favorite egg nog

I never really liked egg nog, but that all changed a few weeks ago, I was at the store getting some things when a rep from Turkey Hill asked if I wanted to try their new light vanilla nog..OH my it is so good, it taste just like melted vanilla ice cream. There are just two bad things I can say about it..1..although it says light, it's not diet approved the 16oz bottle is 600 calories but it does have less fat than regular egg nog and the other thing wrong is it's seasonal so once the season is over I'll have to wait to next year to get more

what's your favorite egg nog? and if it's homemade, would you mind sharing the recipe

My favorite is homemade. I make one batch per year, usually between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Just my youngest dd and I like it. I like rum & bourbon, but I don't like it in eggnog, so I omit it.

Eggnog

6 beaten eggs
2 cups milk (I use skim)
1/3 c. sugar
2-4 TBSP light rum
2-4 TBSP bourbon
1 TSP vanilla
1 c. whipping cream
2 TBSP sugar
Ground nutmeg

In a large heavy saucepan, mix eggs, milk, and 1/3 c. sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat till mixture coats spoon. (I hate this step - I heat it to about 150-160 degrees - you have to be careful because don't want to scramble the eggs - I have done that before and it's gross!) Remove from heat. Cool quickly by placing pan in a sink or bowl of ice water and stirring 1-2 minutes. Stir in rum, bourbon and vanilla. Chill 4-24 hours.

At serving time, in a bowl whip cream and 2 TBSP sugar till soft peaks form. Transfer chilled egg mixture to a punch bowl. Fold in whipped cream mixture. Serve at once. Sprinkle each serving with nutmeg. Makes about 10 4-oz servings.

Enjoy!
Lisa
