MLK Monday

Hope you all had a great weekend!

I was crazy busy this morning grocery shopping and doing errands, and came home to my sweet husband starting dinner!! Yeap, he made his hungarian soup!! Great day for it, too.

We are having grilled burgers & cauliflower with cheese sauce.

I was at the Oriental market the other day to get stuff I needed to make sushi and ran across a frozen fish marked simply "sea bass" on the price tag. I thought it was a great buy ($4/pound) so I got 2 about 1 pound steaks. I am always somewhat paranoid once I get home and so I googled the specific type of fish marked on the package and it was Escolar Steaks. Is anyone familiar with this fish? I'm a little nervous to try it now as there are a lot of websites stating that it can cause major gastrointestinal distress the next day....

Baked chicken for DH and salmon fillet for me. Roasted potato wedges and split pea soup (with ham for DH without for me).

Maryann do you put paprika on your potato wedges? I do and my husband loves them that way.

I have a 10+ pound ham in the oven. I'll make twice baked potatoes and broccoli to go with it. Not sure about dessert. I baked 3 pie pumpkins today and have the pulp draining now. I might whip up some pumpkin muffins (or I might just pull some ice cream out of the freezer and plan on making pumpkin bars tomorrow and concentrate on getting the rest of it packaged and frozen).

Hi Anna
I do sometimes, but I like making paprika potatoes (that's what my grandma called them) when I make pork chops. You just slice potatoes thin and throw them in a pan with some peppers and onions (or just onions) and a lot of paprika. My grandma always made them whenever she made pork chops, so that is probably why I do it.
