Friday Dinner? 1/19/2007

Hi,

I was up at 3:30 this morning- just couldn't sleep. Have had my debit card number stolen. Just makes me sick! Have to go fill out all the paperwork this morning for it. Thank goodness my bank flagged the purchase and called me as soon as it happened.

So, I was planning on us going out to dinner tonight- but guess we will stick around the house instead. Have some pork chops- perhaps I will make those.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day- I am going to try to

It's Friday which means Fish and Chips night for the boys. Me not sure what I am having as I hate fish Yuck! It smells so good the fish and the fries and then I make DH give me a bite because I keep thinking maybe just maybe i'll decide I like it. And then DH laughs at me as I make faces as I try to chew it. I just can't do it know matter how good it smells I just can't stand the taste.

EDIT- Well I now know what I am having for dinner, Me and MIL went to Olive Garden for a late lunch while we were out shopping. YUM.

Well, as for us, it'll be just DH and I again (boys snowboarding). I'll make the sweet N sour meatballs I was supposed to make on Wednesday (Dh took us to chinese!). We'll put those over rice and add some corn.

Good morning, Ladies! I am praying for a good day myself. I have an appointment this morning with my boss and our VP with a HUGE account that I'm trying to land. It's crunch time.... This is such a big deal that if I get it, I could (in theory) not work for the rest of the year! Please send good thoughts my way!!!!

Airbornearmywife - so sorry about your debit card. I know that's such a hassle!

Keowa - have you tried a different kind of fish? I know there are some I really like and some I just can't stand!

Breggae - your sweet and sour meatballs sound interesting. Would you mind telling me how you make those?

I have no idea what I'm going to do for dinner. I think I'll lay out some cube steak and maybe make chicken fried steak...

Hope you all have a great day!

Kim

We're going to get hit hard with snow....we could see up to 2 feet plus by tomorrow! Guess I have to use what I have on hand (I am NOT going to the store in this crap! ) so I'll make either spaghetti or hamburg helper. We do have some leftovers as well, so that's a choice too.

I have tried them all pretty much. I am very good about atleast trying something once and then I even go so far as if I don't like it fried maybe ill like it baked and so on. I just can't do fish even mild tasting ones. I hate the taste and the texture. But I do make some pretty funny faces.

When I moved up here I felt compelled to try all the local seafood and things that are so very popular up here. New England is known for its seafood. Me coming from the south had eaten fresh seafood but limited amounts. So I started with clams ewww yuck. I tried them fried, steamed, clam boils you name it nope not happening. Then the same with all the different types of fish nope. My DH was hysterical when I tried the clams. I was in a resteraunt and was trying to chew one. I couldn't politely spit it out or even in my napkin and I was trying very hard to just get it to where I could swallow it. It was so bad that I had tears running down my face and I guess I made some pretty funny faces as DH had tears from laughing to hard at me. But I finally got that little sucker down.

I will however eat lobster, shrimp, crab, scallops but only if they are broiled and not squishy when I bite into it.

Airbornearmywife--I'm so sorry about your card! I hope that everything gets worked out quickly.

We're having our Friday night pizza--dough is rising as we speak! I think we'll have a spinach artichoke pizza tonight with garlic butter sauce and fresh mozzarella. I may make one with just spinach and red sauce.

I'm only going to tell you what I'm having for dinner tonight because I just read the
New Sticky "Rules of Play" for this board

We're going out tonight with DH's boss
I've never eaten at a Ruby Tuesday's and I think that's where we're going.

Babysitter will be having some of the Potato Soup I made yesterday
**snaps** to Laura7055 for the delicious recipe and I added extra pepper blend and extra crispy bacon on top.

Kids are having something new I found in the freezer section of Walmart.. Empanadas.
It was cheaper to buy them ready made than it was to make them. (well, DH makes them every once in a while)

I took a sirloin tip roast out of the freezer last night planning to make a To-Die-For Roast in the crockpot this morning. But I was running late this morning, so I didn't get to it. So I think I'll just make a tater tot casserole tonight and do the roast tomorrow.

I feel bad for people that won't be able to use their debit card to go buy their own trout
too, and would you please, post your recipe for Trout so next time I find a deal on Trout.

Thanks,

We are having Steak Subs tonight except for my 12 year old. She's decided to play sick to be allowed to come home from school early today thinking her mother never did that in her life, so she is currently lying in bed, no tv, no music, and "gulp" no internet. She has her reading book for company. She'll be having chicken noodle soup with crackers. Wouldn't want her to have a relapse Tuesday morning when they go back to school.

Sure would!

Sweet & Sour Meatballs
2# ground pork
1 1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 TBSP soy sauce
1 TBSP lemon juice
15 oz can chunk pineapple

Make pork balls. Brown in oven 350 degrees (I check them after 20 minutes to make sure they're no longer pink- since cooking time depends on size of the meatball) Lay meatballs on a paper towel to drain grease. Put next 4 ingredients together. Put balls in and heat thoroughly. Add pineapple till just warm. Heat and serve!

Those sound good! I was going to share that when I bake my meatballs, I bake them using the broiler pan - that way all the grease drains out while they're baking and you don't have tod drain them.

We're having Pizza Hut delivery! Oldest DD has activity night at the middle school from 7-9 and youngest dd is having a friend spend the night.

Well, by using the money they put back into my account, I was able to purchase Jack in the Box for dinner.

Hopefully someone in Turkey is having bread and water in jail lol

And maybe it is just me, but I read that new post, and do not see where we are not able to chat as well as talk about dinner in here? Perhaps a mod can clarify?

Thanks everyone!

Glad everything worked out for you.

I agree, the clarification of the ROP does appear to be necessary.
