I have added (but not all at the same time!)...spicy brown or dry mustard, salsa/picante sauce, minced jalapenos/garlic, hot sauce, vinegar, cumin, chili powder, smoked sausage, barbequed pork, grilled chicken.

I cut lean bacon into small pieces, fry it until well done, then put the bacon and a tablespoon or little more of the drippings into the baked beans as well. (remember I said lean, trying to keep the trans fats down) add brown sugar, about 1/4 c. and either cook on top the stove or in the oven until sugar melted throughout.

first I drain it because I don't like it so soupy, then I add chopped onions, mustard and some mollasses and crock pot it on low most of the day, it comes out a lot like b&m baked beans
