Gazebo Salad Dressing from PA

Is there anyone on here who ever tried to duplicate this salad dressing? I have guessed and tried, but it doesn't taste anything like it. They just have natural spices on the label, so they don't give away the secret. I know it has oregano or italian spice in it. Reg oil, olive oil, salt, msg which I would let out, and vinegar. Hubby goes through that like water and it costs over $3 a bottle. I would also sure like to cut down on the salt. He tried the light, and that is mainly water. Then I tried to combine half of reg and half of light, but I sure would love to make my own.

Also while I have your attention-LOL! Can anyone recommend any good light, low salt, low sugar dressings that taste half decent. I don't know how many we tried, and they just don't cut it for him! He is too darn picky!

I really like lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion salads with balsamic vinegar, salt and garlic powder on them- you can add a little olive oil but its pretty good for zero fat

I think the OP meant this dressing...Gazebo Room Salad Dressing & Marinade

I ran searches the other day on this thread because it sounded alot like one of our favorites
Hendrickson's unique dressing and seasoning.

I've tried to come up with a "copycat" recipe and there's just always that little something that isn't just exactly the same.... ugh... and after pouring through pages and pages of recipes, I got distracted and thought I'd come back around to it...

Hope someone comes up with this one...

Yes, that is the salad dressing. Sorry about that! We are just so used to saying, "I must get some Gazebo Dressing" that I hadn't even looked at the bottle. It is, I saw on the bottle, a Greek Dressing, but I just can't copy the taste. I keep trying to get my hubby to eat something different for a change, but he just won't. He sticks with this, and takes a salad every day for work. So I go through it pretty fast. I told him he shouldn't eat it every single day because of the fat, but the dietition told him as long as he only eats a tbsp. and tried to watch the fat the rest of the day. He has bp problems and also is diabetic, so I kept thinking I could cut the salt if I could make my own and get it to taste near the same.

Did you try crumbling a bit of feta in it?? Also, I wouldnt worry about fat if you use all olive oil, thats the good fat.

there is a Greek dressing here that gets high raves - I have been meaning to try it
Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing - Allrecipes

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 quarts olive oil
1/3 cup garlic powder
1/3 cup dried oregano
1/3 cup dried basil
1/4 cup pepper
1/4 cup salt
1/4 cup onion powder
1/4 cup Dijon-style mustard
2 quarts red wine vinegar

DIRECTIONS
In a very large container, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, basil, pepper, salt, onion powder, and Dijon-style mustard. Pour in the vinegar, and mix vigorously until well blended. Store tightly covered at room temperature.

(wonder if you can use kosher or sea salt which has less sodium)

No, I hadn't put any feta in it, as the back of the bottle didn't list it, but I will get some and try a little in it. Feta is strong flavored, so I don't know how it will go, but I am open to all suggestions.

Also, am going to try to cut the recipe above in half and try that. I am wondering if it could be the mustard, but you would think that would have been listed. Although I don't know what those natural seasonings are that they use. The dressing above does sound good. I also will cut the salt by some, I think.

Thanks for your posts!
