I have made my own dressings, but not because it is better for me.
I just like them. I also have a couple french dressing recipes that we like.
These are good on a salad or use for cole slaw.
You can keep for a couple weeks in the refrigerator.

Poppy Seed Dressing

1 cup sugar
˝ tsp salt
˝ cup vinegar
1 tsp grated onion
1 ˝ cups salad oil
1 tbsp poppy seeds
Mix everything together except oil and poppy seeds. Slowly add oil while blending . Add the poppy seeds. Store in refrigerator.

******************

Teel’s Café salad dressing

2/3 cup sugar
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1 small onion grated
1/3 cup vinegar
1 tsp celery seeds
1 cup oil
Blend in blender adding oil slowly. store in refrigerator.

In a hurry I will either mix olive oil and a tiny it of vinegar (because I don't like it much) and some herbs

Or add mayonnaise and ketchup

Or fruit juice with a tiny bit of olive oil

Plus the recipes I posted in the Cafe

Cooks Recipes | Salad Dressing Recipes Page 1 at CooksRecipes.com

Salad dressing is like bbq sauce or meat marinade in that you can take almost anything you like and mix it in to suit yourself!!!

Our favorite is a Betty Salad Dressing, which resembles a sweet red french. Probably not the best, but delish!

Whisk the following in a medium bowl, then refrigerate overnight.

3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. catsup
1/4 c. white vinegar
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
onion--i use a small pear onion that I finely grate w/a microplane. The recipe calls for much more, but I find it over powering.
dash salt and pepper
dash mustar powder if you have it or a drop of yellow mustard.
dash of paprika

Shirley, those dressings sound yummy! I printed them to try. Thanks all for sharing!

I'm not a big lover of oil and vinegar type dressings. But I'll make creamy dressings like blue cheese, creamy garlic, creamy Italian, etc.

I occasionally will make oil and vinegar, but I'll usually just use Good Seasonings dressing mix to do it. Actually, I usually only use the oil and vinegar ones for marinating meat, so I usually just buy a bottle and it lasts quite a while around here.

Sure, I'll post it this evening. I'm at work and can't quite remember it, but it's basically a packet of Good Seasons Italian dressing mixed with mayo, vinegar and water. I just can't remember the amounts off the top of my head.
