Exclamation >>Looking for a DELL laptop deal!!

Need advice on good buys and what to get. Not computer savvy on tech stuff so I hope someone will offer advice.

I want a laptop for cruisin' the internet, writing infrequent business letters and watching our local newscast via their website. What do I need to order on my laptop to acccomplish these 3 uses? Which screen should I get?

My conversations with Dell cs have not been very good. Each time, their cs tells me something differenty from the prior cs. Hope y'all will give me some honest suggestions/advice!

Special thanks!

Hi,

Why will you go with Dell if their CS Stinks. You would think they would know their own product. I don't know about deals, but if I were to purchase one I would go with a Pentium 3, 512 Sdram, and a min of a 40 gig hard drive. And if you were to play games on the machine, I would see what kind of graphic card it had also. Since so many of the new games need graphic cards.

In a laptop you don't need that much ram or that much disk space. Perhaps on a mid-higher range desktop, but not a simple laptop. Basically any new laptop on the market can do those tasks that purl1 stated. One thing you may need to be concerned about is battery life, some laptops only last 2 hours!

I might also suggest paying extra for a DVD drive so you will have a portable DVD player and spring for the DVD/CDRW cd drives if you can. This way you can also burn cds with the drive.

Re: >>Looking for a DELL laptop deal!!

Be careful with Dell. I have one of their laptops and only bought the one year warrenty. Now if I want to talk to a tech agent it will cost me $40 a time. That is just to ask a question. I can understand having to pay for my own parts after a year but to talk to tech support-it stinks.
Also, my computer has been a pain in the butt for web ssurfing. My husband has a Micron computer and it is much better.

I ability aswell advance paying added for a DVD drive so you will accept a carriageable DVD amateur and bounce for the DVD/CD RW cd drives if you can. This way you can aswell bake cd's with the drive.
