my 7 yr old wants this item for christmas. my 13 yr old says I should wait till next year, cuz they will prob come out in color then. (what a smart kid) anyone have opinions on this toy? I keep hearing its the new hot toy for this year. I got one, but wonder what everyone thinks

Personally, I chose to wait too. My DS who is 10 badly wants this but I am willing to bet that the color one is on the way. Plus, the fact that it takes these special sized discs really bugs me. The price of portable DVD/TV's (5 inch and smaller) keeps coming down and they take regular DVD's. I am waiting to see what the new technology is next year.

I bought one of these for my son for his birthday in September and I think they are junk!!! The first one played for an hour or so then quit working. Also if you move it even slightly it stops it and starts over. We took the first one back and exchanged it for another one thinking the first one must have been defective. Same thing happened with the second one. We took the second one back and got a refund. Maybe you all will have better luck than we did.
