I have a few Christmas themed items I bought (gasp -- at full price!) at Target to have on hand in case I need a last-minute gift. They're small items, so I'm not worried about buying them at a cheaper price. BUT, if I don't use them, I'd like to return them and get my purchase price back, not a clearance price. Will I be able to do that after Christmas, with my receipts? Or even before Christmas if they're already selling at a reduced price?

Sorry if this has been asked a million times. I did a search before posting and didn't find anything!

I would return them before Christmas with receipt so that they can sell them before the season is over. With receipt, you will get the price that you paid for them, even if they are selling at a reduced price now. If you did not have receipts, it would be a different story and you would only get reduced price back.

If you paid by credit card and you do a return with credit card look-up, you will get back what you paid for them, regardless of the current selling price, as long as you are within 90 days of purchase.

I always use a credit card at Target and never save my receipts. Credit card look up is so much easier for me and I don't have to worry about not getting back what I paid.
