Question Do Like Foam Mattress Toppers ?

I am thinking of getting a memory foam mattress topper for my Queen bed. I have a pillowtop firm mattress now.
I'm wondering if they really relieve pressure points + help eliminate back pain?
Do they get compressed after months of use ?
I'd like to know pros & cons.

Thanks.

Well, I am a waterbed person myself (die-hard hippie at heart I guess ) so haven't got much experience myself. however my 16 y o DD has foam pillows and mattress topper and absolutely adores them!! My sister has them on her bed and in her guest bedroom too now. Also, a good friend who is also a masseuse (no--not THAT kind, a certified, therapist kind....really!) swears by both too. I have laid on my DD bed talking with her and it is comfortable, but have not spent enough time to personally say yea or nay. However, I did get my DD on overstock.com for great pricing if you are looking at pricing. Hope some others here with more experience can give you more detailed informaton.

HATED pillow top but LOVE our tempur foam mattress cover. It's about 2 inches think (or something close) and we got it at Costco for about $100. It has helped my back and helped my DH's somewhat but I think he is a lost cause (sleep # bed killed him at any number!)

I got one for Christmas (a memory foam topper) from one of my DD's. I LOVE it but I wish it was an entire mattress-ok so I'm greedy. I got a taste of the good life and I want MORE..HAHAHA.
Mine has a 3 year warranty with it. I hope it holds out until then!

I love my memory foam toppers. Right now I'm using 2 of them on the main bed of the house - they're each in the 1 1/2 - 2inch range so thats 3-4 inches of foam. Total cost for both of them shipped - under $200. (Overstock.com).

I also have a 1 1/2 inch thick one with a terry cloth covers that is a twin size, that I take with me when we visit the inlaws, or travel anywhere domestically where I can either stuff it in a duffle bag or put it in a separate suitcase (disney world etc). Hubby has one on his bed too (we both have bad knees, he snores, I steal covers, he kicks, I require complete silence to sleep, he prefers the tv on etc..... it just works better for us to have separate beds), and he loves his also.

I'm thinking, too, of getting a foam topper, so here's a dumb question.....I keep a washable, cotton mattress pad on my bed, so does the foam topper go under the pad or lay on top of it?????

TIA!

Love my foam topper. No, it does not become impacted. I have had it for 2 years and it is still as fluffy as the day I bought it.

Note on Overstock..... Overstock charges a restocking fee in addition to p&h both ways when returning an item. I found the fee excessive. Addtionally, you have to call and get return code and ship it back within 30 days. Sounds genereous until you can't get ahold of anyone to get the code. If you aren't 100% you are going to keep the item, don't buy from Overstock. I won't buy anything from them anymore. Feel free to check out Overstocks return policy before you buy, I wish I had.

We bought our foam mattress top at Sam's, and put it over our firm mattress.

We love it!!

Very comfortable!!

And for Gammiesue, I put our mattress pad over the foam mattress top.
