Question Plus size clothing help

Hi all,

I am a size 2X, and I am wondering where some of you plus size women buy your clothes. I regularly shop at Dress Barn, Catherines, Kohls and Shopko. I sometimes hit Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug and JC Penneys but rarely find anything.

Can you give me some ideas of where else to shop in a store or online? I don't want to spend a ton. I work at a library and just need nice casual clothes -- nothing too dressy that the books will snag.

I'd love to find a bra that actually fits too, and doesn't have the elastic on the bottom twist up. I have been fitted at some of these different stores, but have yet to find anything that great. I do have some good sports bras but I can't wear them under a lot of things.

Help!! :-)

Donna

Plus Sized Clothing

I can't really help you with the clothing - if it ain't comfortable then I'm not wearing it and comfort for me is t-shirts and stretch jeans. I do all of my shopping online at either Romans or Lane Bryant Catalog. Lane Bryant also has a website but they don't carry large enough sizes to fit me but Lane Bryant Catalog does - go figure. Depending on the style of bra that you like Just My Size has some comfortable bras. You can go to their website (www.jms.com) to view what they have and local stores like KMart and Walmart carry that brand. They also carry a selection of plus sized clothing. You can check the Silhouettes website (www.silhouettes.com). They also have a catalog that you can order. They carry a more "natural" line of plus sized clothing - cotton, linen and so forth. Also QVC has a brand of bra, Breezies, that is a little pricey but very comfortable. There is no bulging over the sides or tops of the cups and the straps don't dig into your shoulders. Hope some of this helps.

Sue

You should check Walmart and Kmart. They actually have a good selection. I also find nice tops at Marshalls.

Believe it or not, I get most of my clothes at Goodwill. Most of them have a special *plus size* rack. Almost everytime I go in (which is once a week), I find something nice that fits. And, you can't beat the price! Good luck!

I really like Lane Bryant. They have good coupons, awesome clearance, and I just find them to fit me well. I just got some new bras from Lane Bryant, and I love how they fit. They actually LIFT! LOL

I also really like Dillard's for plus size. They have good clearance items as well. Good luck!

I really like Lane Bryant's bras, because they're comfortable, but don't make me look blobby. That sounds silly, but I think you know what I mean. However, I'm only really big on top, so they may not work for everyone. http://lanebryant.charmingshoppes.co...311&pagesize=3 is my favourite (Passion Lace bra, if the link doesn't work).

I agree with others. Lane bryant and Roamans have great clothes that are comfortable and affordable. And there are ALWAYS some sort of code out for them. I rarely find anything at Goodwill taht actually fits.

Has anyone ordered from Silhouettes? If so, how is the sizing and quality?

I have a different question. I want to buy my niece some maternity clothes. She's due in mid may and told me she's wearing sz. 24 pants. I have no clue what size tops. How do you convert from numerical sizes to "x" sizes? TIA!

I like Target, they have really good clearances on clothes. I also like Deb shop, they are extremely cheap and have clothes marked down to like 2-5 dollars alot. They are younger geared clothes, but very cute and modern. Some stuff can be made cheap but its hard to find plus size clothes at a good price. Walmart sometimes has good clothes. Dillards every once in a while has really good sales and really nice clothes.
The Avenue, its kinda like Lane Bryant, cost wise.
