I have a phone with Cingular that is paid for (I paid for it outright) but the contract doesn't end until either November or December. I'm happy with my service, but my phone is not the best. I've had my eye on a PDA that also functions as a phone. I've never been that into gadgets, but ever since I got my iPod...love them. I've been playing with all type of technical gadgets! Guess I just had to build up my confidence.

Anyway, my question is this: Could I buy a PDA from ebay that says it's okay for cingular and just switch my SIM card? Would that work? Or should I go into Cingular and just buy another phone? I just don't want to screw up my contract. What do you think?

Well, you know that Apple is releasing their iPhone this month.....might want to consider waiting and switching to an iPhone......at the end of your contract, if you had a 2-yr contract you should have about $150 credit towards a new phone.....you might want to check with Cingular to see.....this will be a BIG BIG seller for them.....so if you like your iPod you will most likely love an iPhone.....

i have bought from e bay before an unlocked phone well when i got it it also has hong kong language on it and i never could get it to go to cingulars page to download ringtones and graphics now when i buy one off e bay i make sure it is a cingular phone and locked to there network only just my input

Yes. I've done this with a TMobile SIM. No problems, worked out fine. And it was a lot cheaper!
