THat is one of the best books I have ever read. He has a series out now. If you get a chance read them all.

I've read all the books in his "series." They were great books. It's horrible what he endured during his childhood.

Wink

Ummm, Zingers, I think the point of the message was to let us know what great used books we can get at places like SA. She happened to get it even cheaper with the egg deal. So she saved a lot more than the 19 cents.

I hadn't heard of this series. Will keep an eye out now.

i buy alot of books form thrift stores when my kids finish with them i donate them to schools/daycares.If you can save any more money that what your already saving at thrift stores go for it every little bit counts.the book may have originally cost 14.00 so paying 0.31 is a big savings look at it that way.

I just joined a site called swaptree today ( Swaptree ? Trade books like a book swap or trade video games and swap cds or trade dvds) where you enter the ISBN number of any books you have available to swap and you make a list of books your looking for and you trade with people for free - you ship them yours and they ship theirs. I hadn't made a list of books I want, but when I entered the ISBN of The Pilot's Wife I instantly got a list of 75 different books that people wanted to trade with me for mine. One of them just happened to be A Child Called "It" so I thought of this thread and figured I'd share. You can also use this site for CD's and video games.

Thanks, OP
I love finding bargain books.

I leave them where ever I finish them on our trips.

I was afraid to read this book. I was afraid it would be very upsetting and depressing.

I am always trying to think of bargain places to find new books - besides the library because I really like to look at the books and read the backs and the library selection is a bit overwhelming for that sometimes! Thanks for the Salvation Army idea!

Oh, BTW, "The Child Called It" series was depressing and horrible, but also uplifting because he made it through. It was like a train wreck for me. I couldn't put it down, even though it made me physically sick to my stomach to continue. It was horrifying, but I had to know what happened. In my humble opinion, it's worth reading because it is eye-opening and I think our eyes need to be open to try to stop these things from happening to kids. Again, just my opinion.

I belong to the site Paperbackswap.com. it is great, you post books you have already read and when you mail books to people who request them, you get points to request books you want. I am using it to get some books I want and to get books for my DS for his summer reading he will have to do soon! It is great , you just pay for the postage to send books out, thats the total cost. Cheaper than going to bookstores to get them!

My library has a great book sale every year. They collect books from residents during the year and then sell those, plus ones they've culled from the library itself. Hardbacks are $1.00 and paperbacks are 25 cents. On the last day of the sale, you can take all the books you can stuff in a box for $5.00. It's about the only place I buy books now!
