grocery stores stimilus pkg deals

2 grocery stores in my area are giving deals if you cash your Economic stimulus package checks with them and get gift cards. For a $300 check they give you $330 in gift cards. If you get it electronically deposited, just bring in proof of the deposit and you can do it also.

Check stores in your area to see if they are doing it too!

Our stores:
Festival foods
Copps and Pick and Save- these 2 are also giving you an extra bonus. A canvas shopping bag, 1 dozen eggs, 1/2 gallon milk and a loaf of bread. ($7 value)

I've seen the same offer at Kroger. Purchase $300, $600, or $1200 on a gift card and get an additional 10%. I wish I had seen the offer BEFORE I bought $120 in groceries last week, then filled up DH's truck for another $75. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to do it or not. I'm thinking I will purchase the $300 gift card.

I've heard that Albertson's and Wal-Mart are doing the same thing.

With the Kroger offer, you do not need to cash your stimulus check or even prove you got one. You can simply buy gift cards. I wish Publix was doing this -- I'd jump on it in a second as I prefer them to Kroger.

Gas never even crossed my mind--I had just thought that I would check to see what Gift Cards are available that we might want/need... Thanks for the idea!

Also, I know Fred Meyer is associated with Kroger--Can you use a Kroger gift card at Fred Meyer? That would be awesome!

Thanks!

I decided to get a $300 gift card at Kroger ($330 value). It can be used at their gas pumps. I was told
that I could get as many as I wanted up to the cutoff date of July 31st. So I got the smallest and can get
another when it runs out. It states that it is good at the following family of Kroger stores:

Kroger, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, KING Soopers, fry's
City Market, QFC, Dillons, Smith's, fry's Marketplace
Baker's, Pay Less, SCOTT'S, Food4Less( So. CA, NV, IN and Il only), JayC,
FOODS CO, Hilander, Gerbes, Owen's
Fred Meyer Jewelers, Littman Jewelers, Barclay Jewelers
