I was at Target today and they have the 'new' Strawberry Shortcake clothes in 'girl' sizes (smallest was 4/5 ). There's also supposed to be books, dolls, and movies but I haven't seen those yet. Just FYI for anyone else who loved SSC as a kid

I LOVED Strawberry Shortcake and was at a store called Hot Topic and saw som SS merchandise there. When I mentioned how cute it all was to my DD, she told me that is what all the druggies wear to "rave" parties. Ditto all the Care Bear stuff!

Can you believe that something that started out so innocent gets adapted to that kind of thing?

I have seen the new strawberry doll with apple dumpling and just strawberry shortcake doll at Walmart for about 13.XX. Everyone will probaly have them in a couple weeks.

She is dressed differently but still smells good.

I saw some of that stuff in hot topic, and the ss doesnt look anything like they did when I was a child , and the carebears dont either.. was a little disapointed when I got the one from spencers........

I am a 28 year old preschool teacher, mother of 2, and I knew the same thing as the poster's daughter. You don't have to attend raves or hang out with a bad group of kids to know that.

well.. I'm 29, mother of an 8 and 9 yr old boys.. and did not know that info... my bf works at a jr high school, and he doesnt even know that info.. and if they told me that, I'd be asking them some questions LOL.. and probably end up having the birds and bee's talk again, along w/the dont do drugs speech, etc.. LOL.

The world needs more mothers like you carlierae.

WOW ...lots of finger pointing at her DD....thats not fair, she has a comfortable relationship where she can tell her mother these things. If anyone has children at least of middle school age, these things are know about. Many kids join in, and many, who were taught important principles and morals at home do not, and they feel completely comfortable talking to their parents about what is going on with their peers.
I think she is truly blessed to have a relationship like that, and obviously the kid is not into these kinds of things or she would not have told her mother about it in the first place.
I think she taught her daughter to not be afraid to talk to her, and to not be afraid to follow the crowd.

Hee hee, this is such a funny post. I dont think it takes a rocket sceintist to figure out what kind of store "hot topic" is or the crowd that is attracs. HELLO!! Just because her daughter knows that info doesnt mean diddley! As a mother of three (and a teenager once myself) I think it is wonderful that she is aware of what is around her....it doesnt mean anything.

Back to my wonderful news about SSC She doesn't really look too much like the old strawberry shortcake. You can see her and her friends at www.strawberry-shortcake.com. There's supposed to be a new 'Dora the Explorer' type cartoon (like with an actual point to the show, as opposed to the mindless wondering in the older version). I'm sure my DD's will love it

I've had a Strawberry Shortcake blanket since I was 5. It is the softest, nicest blanket ever, and I'll let you in on the truth, its still on our bed underneath the Ralph Lauren set I got for 80% off....

I think this stuff holds a lot of memories for everyone and everyone loves it including the druggies. Both my dd's (teens) love hot topic stuff, care bears, stawberry shortcake and rainbow brite. Clairs, Anchor Blue & hot topic are their favorite stores. My dd did find out after wearing her $49 rainbow brite t-shirt (from Hot Topic) to school that rainbows mean you're gay. She came home and told me she could care less if that's what it means, she thinks it's cute. Both girls love the sweatshirt and really want those cute t-shirts. They both got care bears for Christmas from grammy and have baby dolls, barbies, disney lithographs, puppies/kitties, hello kitty or whatever's cute posters in their rooms.

My girls are good kids (honors, dance team, sports, etc) and don't go to any functions unshaperoned or elsewhere without us so it goes to show these stores and items are for everyone ...just cause the punks & druggies like them doesn't mean we can't too and we should't be too quick to put people in some category cause they like it or shop at hot topic.

Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, Scoobie Doo. I am so excited. Its like reliving my childhood. I hope they bring Rainbow Bright back too.

I don't remember much about SS except her dolls smelt good and my sister was the Purple Pie Man one year for Holloween. And Rainbow bright and Sprite (I think thats his name) were my favorite dolls when I was little. I slept with them every night and if you pushed Sprites nose in sometimes it got stuck. Funny things you remember when you were little.

They have them at my Target in Chandler, AZ. There are little necklace ones that are $2.99, small ones (kind of like Polly Pockets) that are $4.99, bigger set of two dolls (I got apple and Strawberry) that are $8.99 and then a big doll with extra clothes, etc. for $12.99.

I just wish they had the Blueberry one again (can't remember her name). She was my favorite and she is not listed in the papers that came with the doll so I'm guessing she's not being revived as of yet!

BLUEBERRY MUFFIN!!! I loooooove SS dolls!! They smelled soooooooooo good!! Kinda makes you wish you had saved all those 'original' dolls, huh? Bet they'd be worth alot now! I love SS, Carebears, and Scooby. Was never really into Rainbow Brite, but I plan on stocking up on Carebears and SS for myself!!

When I saw the Care Bears had made a comeback, I wondered how long it would be before I saw a SS doll. Now I know!

Let me guess..she's now wearing ultra-low-rise jeans that just barely cling on to the point of covering her little muslin thighs....a baby-T with the word "Babelicious" emblazoned upon it in rhinestone studs....and lots of "bling-bling" so we'll know she's hip and with it in today's world of gangsta rap, where all girls dress like lap dancer-wannabees! But, she's still of course called Strawberry Shortcake so we mom's will still know and love her and fall all over ourselves buying them for our kiddos as a piece of our own childhood nostalgia.

Actually, they kept her pretty innoccent looking IMO. She is certianly more modern that the always in a dress version of the 80's, but still cute. If you look at the link I posted above (www.strawberry-shortckake.com) you can see the 'new' SSC. She's wearing wide leg jeans, a long sleeve striped shirt, and a sweater around her waist. Her hat is MUCH more cool than the big mushroom one of SSC past, she has 'cool' sunglasses, and she's riding a scooter

I was surprised when I just happened to be by the older girls stuff and saw Strawberry Shortcake. I knew she wasn't in the toddler section where I hang out. I have a couple of the original figurines and those darn things still smell! I don't know what they used in them. You can smell Apricot with Hopsalot in the next room. Don't need a Glade plug in when she is around!

I am 25 and still have all my SS dolls! And a couple of them still smell I've got tons of accessories for them too, but have no plans on selling them! I have Rainbow Bright stuff as well, and some Carebears stuff too. It's great to see them back, no matter what it may mean. I'll wear those character shirts any day becuase they remind me of my childhood, not cause they may mean I do drugs or am gay. Neither of which is true fyi.

I use to have my room done in Strawberry short cake... used my money to get everthing from curtains to sheets... thought I had really dones something.

Sigh, my mom later gave them away without my knowledge when we were stationed overseas. would love to have been able to put them in DD's room.


I do have some of the cloth from the "old" version. Maybe I will make DD a dress from it.

I've already seen them last nite at Target in Indy. I still have all mine from when I was a kid and they still smell.They are stored in the big strawberry carry case . I also have all my CareBears and cousins from then too. DH just got me one of the new ones for X-Mas he's nothing like my original ones,but I still like him too. Have both DS and of course they think it's neat for mom to see toys from when she was a kid but to girly for them. I almost forgot I have a Record that has all the pictures of SS on it too . Yes I said a record as in for a record player! LOL! Like theres still really one left that works in the world. Anyway it's nice to see all the toys and stuff coming back from when we were kids for our kids to enjoy! Even the boy stuff...

Okay I'm insane!! After you kind souls told me the name of Blueberry Muffin I went and bought one off Ebay (dh told me to!). It's the same one I had as a kid, made in 1979!

Nope, my daughter is only 13 (almost 14) and is an honor student, cheerleader, vollyeball and tennis player, altar server and all around good kid (thank goodness!!) but her school has a group of "goth" or alternative people who wear this stuff and that is how she found out about it. Apparently they must have older siblings or something to know about things at such an age. They also discussed some of these things at her DARE program, including pacifiers on strings and other signs of drug abuse.

Luckily my DD feels comfortable telling me things that she does know!! My SIL has not been so lucky... her child never told her anything so my SIL assumed that she was ignorant of such things and found out the hard way that her daughter was just being secretive because she was involved with a bad group.

Anyway, that's all beside the point! I still love the 80's stuff and glad it's making a comeback. I'm just upset that some people would take it and make it into something it's not intended to be.

I can't decide if I want to get these new ones or not. I am a Strawberry Shortcake collector, but I'm thinking I may just stick to the old ones.

I do wish them better luck with this rerelease than the one they did five, six, or seven years ago. Boy that was a flop. I thought they were cute then, but apparently no one else did. No one seemed to be buying any but me.

AUGH! I wish I had all my old stuff! All I had left was some of the pets which i sold on ebay 4 years ago for over $10 each LOL! I think my best childhood friends ended up with all of my actual dolls her mom probably sold them ina yardsale! I will be getitng my 3 year old the new ones when I see them!

OMG...I was just talking to my dad about these a few weeks ago. I wanted him to bring them out so my neice could play with them while she was at their house, and wanted to see what ones I had left. I lost quite a few a few years back when my parents house burnt, but i did have the basic ones left. I guess I will have him put mine back in storage and get my her one of her own for her birthday next week! The memories they brought back, my father said he thinks they still had my Strawberry Shortcake bedroom set

I understand what you mean. I have 6 of the old Care Bears and I haven't bought any of the new ones. I guess because the originals will always be the ones I am sentimental about. OH MAN!!!! I spent a virtual FORTUNE on Ebay, getting back all the Strawberry Shortcake things I sold at my garage sale--and also gave away... Yeah, you guessed it--DD almost fainted when she came home from college and found out they were all gone....AKKKK!!! But I guess, since the new ones do look a little bit different, I did get the REAL things! The ones on Ebay go on for pages and pages and pages!!! A lot of people are still selling a LOT of old Strawberry Shortcake stuff on there!!!
ANYWAYS... my DD was so, so happy when she came to visit here not too long ago, and saw I had replaced her collection! (But I would have saved SO much $$$$ if I hadn't been so quick to get rid of it! ...But geessshhh, she was in college!!!!! )

What can me make spend nearly $50 in toys a week after my kids got spoiled at Christmas?????????? FInding Strawberry Shortcake at walmart of course! I bought MY DD Ginger snap with Chocolate Chipmunk and Berry Sweet Sisters (strawberry shortcake and apple dumpling) walmart also had the regular SS with custard and berry ballerina SS with custard no orange blossom or angel cake yet. And since I bought DD some more new stuff I had to go to the boy stuff and get DS some of the new transformers they got in since CHristmas LOL! The new ones are cute but i think I will have to start ebaying again and buying a full set of the old ones *sigh* I love SS!

I say good for Scrappindenise that her kids tell her these things. My daughter is 17 and tells me, but she is class president, and doesn't go to the parties. But she does tell me stuff like that. Kids talk, they don't have to go to the parties to know what is going on there. I feel proud that she feels she can talk to me, and that I won't accuse her of anything. Because I feel if she was involved in stuff like that, she for sure wouldn't be talkin' to me about it. Besides, I trust her 100%.

As for Strawberry shortcake dolls, I'll buy them just to have the smell in the house, LOL. They smell so good! I'll have to go and find some for ME

YES - we had some at work (Target) but they sold out quickly. Check your local Target, Walmart, K-Mart etc.

Has anyone seen any of the new Huckleberry toys? I seen him on the site but havent seen him at the stores yet.
To the person who said something about him being a skater...I dont think they are trying to portray him as an actual "skater" he just has a skateboard. He still looks really innocent and I bet in the movies he is as well. My son likes him because my daughter is really into SS now and it gives him someone to play with with her instead of playing with the girls.
Also..only seen this at Target, but they have really cute SS oufits for girls. Little capri jeans and adorable tshirts.
