Description
During the battle of Okinawa, a handful of American soldiers tested the prototype of a new weapon designed to help them during nighttime operations. It was discovered that infrared light could make indistinct objects visible in the darkness. An M1 carbine rifle was modified with a battery-powered infrared sniper scope and a one-directional beam. Soldiers aimed the carbine at a target area and scanned the area with infrared light. The light is invisible to the naked eye, so it could be seen only with special equipment on the weapon. The reflected light was captured by the scope and converted into magnified images. Soldiers could now detect enemy movement in the dark and fire with greater accuracy in no-light situations.
Fully poseable 12" action figure comes with helmet, shirt, pants, boots, belt, ammo pouch, canteen, M1 carbine with infrared sniper scope and battery box.
