My daughter would like to get a digital camera with a viewfinder that she can look through on it as well as the screen. She complains it is hard to see the screen in sun. Seems that this may be getting harder to find in a digital camera.

I have had this camera over a year and I really like it. Easy to use. Large display and a tiny camera!

Personally, I think the Canon Powershot produces better pictures than the Casio Exilim. I have a Canon, my mom has a similar Casio and the pictures I take come out much clearer (both cameras set on similar settings) than hers.

I have the 8mp version of this camera and am not impressed with it. The lens sticks resulting in a "Lens Error" when you are trying to take a picture. After reading reviews of this camera, I found that I was FAR from the only one to have this problem, it is a very common complaint. I also think the pictures are of questionable quality. I don't think Casio is the best company to buy a camera from, for my next one I'm going to stick with a camera company, like Canon.

Maybe they've fixed these problems for this version - but read some reviews before you buy (not after like I did!)

The Casio is out of stock in Fort Wayne even though it says it's still available at the Glenbrook store. I ended up getting the Kodak V1003 for an additional $20 off for a price of $109. It doesn't have the best reviews but I thought I'd try it out and if I didn't like it I'd take it back.

Your daughter is right! I've been using a digital camera exclusively for the last 6 years and I still use the viewfinder fairly frequently. When you're pointing anywhere near the sun, that big screen just looks bright- you can't see a thing. I would definitely advise anyone looking to buy a camera to try to find both a viewfinder and a screen. I never thought about it, and quickly adjusted to the screen. But, that old viewfinder does come in handy!

This error is actually VERY common with Canon...do a quick search for and you'll see. Many, many complaints out there from people with very new cameras getting this lens error, AND Canon refuses to fix it even under warranty. My daughter's Canon SD1000 6-month-old camera just did this and the lens is stuck open. I haven't called them yet, but I'm not expecting much help based on what I'm reading.
