Rep Question

I know this whole rep thing has gotten out of hand but I have a question about it. I have stayed out of the fray when it came to all the drama and thought here might be the place to ask my question. Can you give someone a neg. rep without leaving a comment?? I know that you can if you give them a positive rep. But what if I don't have a comment to leave, I just don't approve of something in the thread. I get a message that I have to leave a comment. If I am suppose to leave a comment with a neg. rep is there a way around that?

Ok, thanks for your time and dont worry, I have not given a neg rep to anyone yet and dont plan on running around willy nilly throwing them at everyone!

I honestly have no idea as I have never neg repped anyone. You can try it against my account. I won't take offence and then we'll know the answer to your question.

Yes, you have to leave a comment to give negative rep (i.e. disapprove of a post). I do it to the spammers frequently so that their rep power shows red.

Actually glendathegoodwitch neg repped me the other day and the comment section was completely blank. I just tried it out on a friend with permission and it did make me leave a comment, so is the comment requirement a new thing in the last few days?

And, what about neg reps with positive comments? I have one and several others have mentioned it also.

Weird, huh?

Not that I give a darn!

Yes, it appears that you can give neg reps with positive comments. Evidentally the system only acknowledges and applies the neg rep aspect. Comments aren't taken into consideration.

Could somebody please provide a link or directions on how to rep somebody? I feel like such an idiot for not knowing.

Thanks.

Just click on the little "scales" icon on the right side of anyone's post. (Between the number of the post and the red-outlined triangle)

Choose whether you approve or disapprove and add a comment if you wish.

Then click on the "Add to reputation" button.

Voila!

Unhappy still don't understand..

I haven't been posting in a while.. once in a blue moon..but I dont' have bad trades or negative comments from others..I don't think I do.. but I just noticed I have 1 little rep green box.. I use to have them across the whole thing.. how can I check and see why I have only one??? did someone give me bad reps??? If so ..how can resolve this..I haven't ever had a bad trade or anything.. I am trying to read all the back threads about this and understand it.. when I read that you had an error..I am trying to see if there is a "rep power" button that rates users or what.. I am not finding anything..how can I gain my rep power back??? I have been a member for many years and don't want others to think I have a bad rep. Which many on here know I don't..but I guess because I am just logging on again.. I didnt' know about all this in the past while..JOY

joy4lly -

A few months back the rep system was revamped to give a more accurate account. You have done nothing wrong - they just reassesed the system and that is why you only see one bar at this time.

Anyone got an answer on this ??? Is this something moderators or Admin. can get around? I have noticed they can add to locked threads, just thought maybe they can get around this, too.
