Question HELP - what is the guestbook

I got a PM that "someone had signed my guestbook" and I should click "here" to read the message.

When I clicked, I don't see any message.

What is the guestbook?

The Guestbook is kind of like your Wall or Comment log on your personal page. We have created some amazing features for you ladies that will give you the ability to create a personal homepage! You can add photos, tell us a little about yourself, add your product wish list, your favorite coupon codes, and more! It's actually pretty fun to get the page going and we are running a contest all durning the month of February and the member with the most visits to their page win's a $100 gift card!

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question.

Where is the "message" that someone left in my guestbook? Where is my "guestbook"?

if you click on "My Homepage" at the top, it will take you to your homepage you should be able to see your message there

I give up

When I click on "My Homepage", I don't see anything about a "guestbook" -- or any other type of PM.

kellyjef.... you might have to set up the homepage to show your guestbook.

On the right hand side (on the homepage) there is a section called DASHBOARD.
Under dashboard there should be several options.
One of the options is Customize your homepage. Click that.
You will then be in your page editor. You should see 7 choices that are in long rectangular boxes.
In the one that says Guestbook, click activate.
Then click Save Page.
Then go back up toward the top right side of the screen. There will be 3 choices.
One of which is View Your Homepage. Click that
Your homepage will open in a new window and you then should be able to see your guest book.

There may actually be a simplier way but this is the only way I know how.

Hi, I just signed your guestbook with a simple hi! and I can see it when I visit your page...

This would seem to be a feature with good intent that has gone bad People are allowed to anonymously post hateful and vile crap in guestbooks. Given the number of trolls and multi-identity users here, this really has the potential to be used negatively.

Is the solution is to inactiviate individual guestbooks that run into problems? Can a guestbook owner delete comments, and if so, how?

And to my anonymous friend, my parents and their parents were all born in the US, so sealing the US borders wouldn't really help to keep people like me out. It's much to late for that.

cj - You can edit your guest book.

Click the MyHomepage link at the top left of the page.
In the DASHBOARD section (to the right) click Customize Your Home Page
If your guestbook is activated - ** click edit (Don't click inactivate)
A pop up box will show listing all of your guestbook comments. Uncheck any you do not want to appear on your page.
Click Submit Choices.

** If your Guestbook is not activated click activate then follow the rest of the above steps.

I was unaware people could sign guest books anonymously.

Yes - we all have a guestbook now.

You don't need a guestbook. However, if you opt to use your homepage you can activate your guest book. Your guest book is activated. For instance on Feb 3 it shows that I signed your guest book. I said "Just sending your home page some love."

I have not yet received a response (posted 2/10) on how to edit my guestbook when it says I have nothing to edit. I have two entries, one very hateful. Please respond with instructions as the Edit function does not work. It says I have no entries.

cj - click the contact us link and give them a detailed description of the steps you take and the message(s) errors you encounter along the way. I am not a techie - so unfortunatley I can't help you. I know that steps I posted above are the steps I took to edit my own guest book.

I just looked at your profile and it appears you don't have the guestbook activated at this time. All I see is a short blurb, a photo and you friends list.

Yeah, I don't have my guestbook activated because of the nastiness in it. I can turn it on and off (activate/deactivate), I cannot edit it.

Can you activate it just to see if you can edit it then? You could always turn it back off if you can't.

Umm, yeah, I did that. You need to activate it to get the edit button.

Hmmm, okay, I haven't tried activating mine, but I did edit my profile. I having tried anything else along the lines of removing anything posted.

I hope someone can figure it out for you soon!

Ok, you got my curiosity up, so I went to my "homepage". I had an entry in my guest book, so I toyed around on the "edit homepage" link. When I clicked it, all the "options" that came up were green, and my guest book said "inactive edit". I clicked on "edit". Three boxes came up, I think they were all checked. One box said "check/uncheck all" then the next box was the comment that was left, then another box of "check/uncheck". I took all the check marks off, and then put the one back on the message (I'm pretty sure that was to remove it). Then I clicked on "update" at the bottom, and the "save page" . I'm pretty sure that is how it went. I know I had to "activate" my guest book somewhere along the lines. Anyway, play around with it, and I'm sure you can get it to work with what I have said here.

I find this feature kind of confusing, myself.

cjs216,

I think I figured out your issue. There was a problem with the Customize your Home Page page with showing graffiti from anonymous users. I have fixed it so that you can remove that offensive post from being displayed. If you have any further problems, feel free to Private Message me.

BlueSkeyes-

When on their homepage you can click to add them to your friends list. Anyone that clicks into your profile has the option to add you to thier friends list.

It will add their icon to you home page in a box on the right.

There was an issue with PM's getting sent out even when a message was blocked from a guestbook (SPAM). So, you would get a PM that someone signed your guestbook, but no message was actually there. I have corrected that. If you still get a PM for a message that isn't there, please let me know.
