Be careful with Newport News coupons. My 20% discount that was confirmed in my order and in an email was removed when the goods shipped. The discount was $47.40. Repeated calls to the customer service line result in conflicting stories ranging from “I’ll send this to the home office for a refund.” (twice) and now – “That coupon must have expired” and emails to their customer service folks are ignored. I Googled around and have found multiple complaints for exactly the same practice—stripping off the coupon when the goods ship and overcharging the account. Not one of the complaints were reported were resolved satisfactorily by NN. I am disputing the credit card charge and will never do business with this company again. So, advise your readers to watch their billing and examine the packing slip.

Buyer beware

Newport News is changing their coupon code practices.
If it is not a valid coupon code you use: YOU WILL NOT KNOW IT until billing. The computer will take your order and even send you an email with the code applied, BUT when they actually bill you, you are in for a surprise.

They will charge you the full price (And not apply to discount) at time of billing.

To cancel your order is not an option and you are left paying $6.95 return shipping and waiting two billing cycles to get your refund. Or stuck paying full price. So make sure you use a code from the catalog you have in hand and order something from that catalog to get the discount. Buyer Beware

I also used code 635 and was not notified until after the items had shipped that the code was no longer valid. Upon making a call the Customer Service I was told a representative would contact me regarding the situation. I received a call from a very nasty rep who told be basically to "SHOVE IT". They have lost a good customer as I will not purchase from them any longer! I have also contacted the BBB bureau to lodge a complaint about this SCAM

I also had code 635 problems. I was not notified until the day AFTER the order had shipped, which is shady, and borders on bait-and-switch in my mind. I spoke to a "supervisor" who was very rude and told me "Well, if you weren't trying to scam us by getting coupons off the Internet, then you wouldn't be having this problem." WTF?! Anyway, the end result is that a BBB complaint has been filed, and Newport News
