New embroidery machine!

I haven't had a chance to use it, but I just got Singer Futura for a steal!

Does anybody know of any good places to get good embroidery designs? I looked at SWAK, but would love to know about others.....

Congrats!!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine. I bought my first one a year ago and fell in love with it. Up graded in Jan to one with a bigger hoop and more features. I buy my thread and backing at MarathonThread.com. They seem to have the best prices and the customer service is outstanding. I buy most of my designs from Embroidery Designs - 50,000 designs at Embroidery Library. They have a new sale every week, starts on Wed mornings. When you buy something from them they will send you a VIP invite the next month with sales only for people bought the month before. This is another site I get designs from http://www.sweetembroidery.com. You pay either a monthly fee or a yearly fee and can download as many as you want.

Marathonthread.com has 2 collections of thread that are $75.00 each, for the polyester thread. The first one is 50 most popular colors and the other one is 50 second most popular colors. I bought both of them then added a few spools at a time of the rest of the colors they have. They have 306 colors. These spools are mini king spools with 1,100 yards of thread on each spool. I also buy my bobbin thread from them. I get the spun polyesters cone that has 22,000 yards on it for $12.95. They also have GC and I have let family members know that they would make great gifts . I don't know where you live but they are in NJ and I am in NH. I can place an order before noon and have it at my door 2 days later, to me that is fast service. I have never tried rayon thread, when I got my machine the Brother dealer I bought it from said to use polyester thread and that is what I have used and it works up great and it is a little less then rayon thread.

Thanks so much for all the info! I wanna use my machine, but I'm intimidated by it at the same time

I started out by using the designs built into my machaine first, to get the feel of it and then expanded out to designs I bought off the internet. I also kept my instruction book next to the machine and kept going back to it to make sure I was doing things right. Go for it, I bet once you get started you will find it is not as hard as you think and you will be addicited, I am. I bought 30 plush throws on clearance after Christmas and have embroidered on all of them for Christmas gifts. Also got 24 fleece throws on clearance and have them all done also. Now working on towel sets that will be Christmas gifts. Let me know how it goes.

Congrats! Poly thread is better for washing. It will hold up over time better than the Rayon. I've used madeira thread and had good success with it I also use Emblibrary, love their designs Good luck with it! Mary
