Gatlinburg area.. What do I NEED to do?

Renting a cabin and planning on Dollywood 1 day. Ober Gatlinburg mountain with alpine slides and chairlifts etc. Cades Cove is a must this time too.

What do u recommend seeing while there. Went last year without a plan and feel that we missed out on a lot.

Restaurants too I'm not cooking the whole time.

Thanks
Josie

Eat at the Burning Bush restaurant.
And there is a restaurant on a side street that has great banana pancakes, but I can't remember the name of it. It has a cabin look to it and there is a store and then a parking lot next to it. If you like sweets and bananas and pancakes it is worth looking for!
If you can walk up a BIG hill, try Clingman's Dome.
Take hikes to see some waterfalls.
There is a road that runs along a creek that is a beautiful drive with a great waterfall. Can't remember the name of that either, but if you ask anyone there, they will know what I am talking about.
We haven't been there in a while and my mind is foggy!
I guess you have driven thru the mountains?
Have fun and relax at the cabin!

We go there almost every year.

Our must dos and sees:

Apple Cider Barn - fantastic home cooking
Hiking in the national park - stop at the visitors center and pick up a map to choose the best trails for you.
Wonderworks - interactive fun - kids really like it
White water rafting - GREAT!
Wine tasting - both in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg
Old Mill Restaurant - portions are HUGE, so I would recommend sharing - my husband doesn't like to share anywhere else, but he will there.

We went to the Dixie Stampede last time we were there - it was fun for my 10 year old, but I don't know that it was worth the money. We have Medieval Times by our house and it was very similar.

Relax and enjoy the scenery.

Have fun!!!
