Washington D.C.

Hello all,

We'll be traveling to DC in December for a redskins game but there for the weekend too. Wondered if anyone could make suggestions for great dining or lodging.
We plan to visit some of the sites but we love to know of any "hidden gems" too.

Thanks so much!!

The L'Enfant Plaza is to one side of the Mall area, nice hotel and access to Metro.
I like to visit this website for possible food suggestions:
Washington DC & Baltimore Area - Chowhound
Something a bit different to do would be driving to Monticello to see Thomas Jefferson's house. It is a beautiful drive especially in the Fall! Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, but it would probably be an all day kind of thing.
I will say from personal experience that the closer you stay to what you want to see the better or at least have access to the Metro! I stayed in Quantico last year, which is really not that far away from DC, and the traffic was a nightmare!!
My sister really enjoyed the Gallery Talks and Tours . It is located at Dupont Circle which is easily found on the Metro.
Enjoy your trip!!
Ps. Travel Guides, Hotel Reviews, Photos, Forums, Deals - VirtualTourist.com is also a wealth of information when traveling!!

Hi I live in the area in Silver Spring, Maryland which is just on the border of DC.
I like to go to Ford's Theater and then to Hard Rock Cafe when I am downtown.
Fedex Field is in Lanham, Maryland which is not far from Silver Spring. The L'Enfant Plaza is nice but it can be expensive. You could stay in Silver Spring which would be cheaper and closer to the game and take the metro into DC to see the sights.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them.

I was in the Mall area of DC two weekends in a row. First my daughter and I went to the Science Expo that they had on Oct. 23. We are both teachers so we got some nice info about many areas of science

Then we all went to Oct. 30 to the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear. It was great because we saw entertainers that we never thought we would see like Cat Stevens. There was a least 300,000 people there.
