Where to stay in Aruba?

We are thinking of going to Aruba next summer and have been looking into all-inclusives. We are not sure though is that is what we want to do since we also have the option of rent a time share at a choice of a few different places. Is there anyone place in particular that you have been to and would recommend?

I have been going to Aruba since 1986and it has changed so much. I personally would stay away from La Cabana. Not the best loacation at all. It depends if you want the High Rise area which is Palm Beach or the Low Rise Area which is Eagle Beach. If you are traveling with kids I would definilty stay at the High Rise Beach because there are so many water sports and activities and the walkway on the beach goes from Hotel to Hotel. I have stayed at both and enjpy the High Rise end with my 3 kids.
I think the time share is the way to go. We own at Play Linda and the view is incredible and I would never dream of eating breakfast out with a view like that so a kitchen does come in handy. They also just are completing a beautiful outside mall with a water show, movie theatre and beautiful shops in this vicinity. No rental car needed unless maybe for a day to explore the Island and go to Baby Beach which is a great day trip and fun snorkeling. In my opinion Downtown is too congested and I don't wamt to have to take a boat to go to a Private Island. What timeshares are you looking at? Maybe I can help.
The restaurants are fantastic with great food. Feel free to ask away as I am just bouncing off being in the Hospital with my DD and my brain is frozen with stress.

Thanks for clearing up the high rise/low rise areas. I've seen mention of them but didn't know where they were and my sister does want to stay on Palm Beach so that narrows us down a bit. It will be 3 families with 4 teens (16-19) and possibly another adult or so. I have a friend who has weeks to trade with RCI and has not looked into it yet but I have heard they are hard to get. Playa Linda does look real nice. We are also interested in the Marriott. I am guessing it may be hard to coordinate renting all the individual time shares that we need. We are in the early stages of planning for next August. Once we get a location set, I am sure I will have tons of questions about things to do and places to eat.
Thanks!
PS - hope everything is OK with your DD.

Marriot is really nice but Playa Linda is better situated for the teens. I also have a 16 and 19 yr old and they can walk everywhere at Playa Linda. Marriot is kinda situated by itself not on the pathway but it is nice and in the High Rise area. PM me if you have any more questions and thanks for asking about DD.
