Anyone been to the Tulip Festival in Pella, Iowa?

I would like to go with my mother this year. I have checked all the lodging possibilities in Pella and they all appear to be booked. Would it be better to wait until next year and book lodging earlier, or is there a neighboring community with decent lodging?

Also, anyone who has been to it - what did you think of it/was it worth it? We would be driving from northwest Wisconsin.

Thanks.

Yes, we went about 20-21 years ago. We stayed in some motel - maybe a Super 8? - outside of town. We enjoyed it. It's quite different - I've never seen so many beautiful tulips! We also toured the Pella window place and went on up and stayed in a B&B in Amana. It was a very quaint, quiet, low-key, enjoyable vacation with lots of good food!
