Where to go for 50th BD getaway?

I am planning a getaway vacation with 2 or 3 high school friends to celebrate our 50th (gulp) birthdays! We have never done this before (gone away or turned 50) and promised each other that we would early next year. We are thinking of a 3 or 4 day vacation and are looking for suggestions. Ideas we have thought of are Key West, a resort in Arizona, Charleston, South Carolina, a cruise, California wine country (last two would most likely take more time). Where have you been that you would recommend? We are from NJ and IND so someone or all would have to fly and that is fine. We are not looking to spend a ton of money but we are planning ahead and can save for it so we are not going to pennypinch completely either. Any ideas?

We just had an article in the Atlanta Journal about a lady that did the very same thing! Well, actually, they went a bit farther, all the way to Italy. The rented a villa and had a great time. I guess it depends on what you like to do and what time of the year you want to go. Sedona, Arizona is beautiful around the end of March beginning of April .It is not burning hot yet and you can hike and do some exploring. If you want to party, probably Key West. It is nice down there. Sanibel Island , Fl. is great. You could rent a condo on the beach. There are lots of nice places to eat, you can walk for hours on the beach, great bike paths, etc..., but virtually no night life. At the sametime, 3 or 4 women could feel safe day or night. California is pretty and you could rent a place and tour some of the vineyards. You could check out ..VRBOŽ is Vacation Rentals by OwnerŽ Vacation Homes Rentals by Owner (Vacation Rental by Owner) Have a great time. It sounds like a lot of fun!! I think I would enjoy doing that too.

my sister in law and about 4 of her friends did this about three years ago when they were turning 50 and have done it each year since. They always drive to New Orleans or Mobile (about 2-3 hrs from here) and go on a 3-5 day carribbean cruise. They have a great time!!!

Go on a cruise. You can go right out of New Jersey. I just went on one in June out of NJ. It was great. That way your room, food and most of your entertainment is prepaid.

We've had a couple of girls week in the past few years. We've been going to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. But I think next year we've decided on Myrtle Beach, SC. Both have great oceanfront condos. The Outer Banks is more laid back, whereas Myrtle Beach has more clubs, excitement, things to do.
