Headed to Texas

My husband and I will be flying out to Austin, Texas during the middle of July. We will visit my son for two days and have eight days to travel. Do you have any suggestions on what to see? Can you recommend a nice restaurant? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

I love Chuys Hula Hut on Lake Austin. They have great margaritas! We go there every time we visit my sister who lives in Round Rock. If it's not too hot, sit out on the dock (though my sister says it's been very hot down there lately).

I had a friend who really enjoyed visiting New Braunfels Texas: New Braunfels Texas The website says:
... a little bit of old Germany smack dab in the middle of the Texas Hill Country. New Braunfels is the kind of old-fashioned town that makes folks feel right at home. Here are some other ideas: Enchanted Rock State Natural Area - Fredericksburg Texas - Day Trips from Austin

All of the above suggestions are great. Make sure you see the bats on the Congress street bridge. It is a great site. There is a place to eat on Lake Travis that is great. I will get the name of it. If you have time, drive to San Antonio which is about an hour drive. You will go through New Braunfels to get to San Antonio. Then you can visit the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and the Alamo missons. Taco Cabana is a fast food place that sells margaritas. Lots of BBQ places. My ds, ddil, and grandson live in San Antonio. I was there in March and Dec. If you have any questions, please ask.

Oh, if you do go to San Antonio, you have to eat dinner at La Fogata. (Can you tell I love Mexican Food?!) Another great place with great atmophere and great margaritas. The food there is more authentic Mexican.

La Fogata

And, I agree, checking out the bats is really cool. We haven't done that in years - we're going to have to do that again the next time we're down there.

We went to that place to eat when we were there in March. It was great.
